I think this is just fricking great.

Hey, if my CA legislature is going to waste time on crap like this (though they are correct on the issue I think) at least it's fun.

kinda cool. i send back everything that comes with a return envelope. i will tear my name and address from credit card apps and such, but they get everything back.

Why keep it at that? I tape business reply envelopes to bricks, old phone books, boxes full of offers, etc. The post office will send it merrily along, no questions asked.

Stick it to the man, tell them I sent you.

I started to do this. It was fun at first, but it gets old. I just go thru the motion everyday like before.............open this, shread that, etc.

My tactic has worked suprisingly well. Whenever I'm asked for my name and address I refuse. If I must I give my work address. It's rare that I give my home address out. Sweepstakes and Give-aways are very common traps.
My phone # is guarded even more closely.

BTW, does Radio Shack ask for customer name and address, at the register, in every state?

I used to send all the return envelopes back loaded down with extra weight, but it takes time every day, and it's not like it ever cut down on the volume of junk I get. I got an heavy duty shredder last year, and now I don't even have to open up my junk mail. It just goes whole into the shredder. Everything comes out in tiny little pieces, even if it has one of the sample plastic credit cards in it. It gives me just as much satisfaction with less time spent on my part.

God Bless the Cross-cut shredder.
