assault weapon ban lifted

Does the end of the assault weapon ban help the Californian's? I am very unclear. Can someone help? To make it clear, I want to buy more guns.

In cases where federal regulation is less stringent than state, removal of the federal regulation does no good.

California law, as written, still remains in place.

Evidentially, there hasn't been the expected "spike" in gun sales everyone was afraid of.

BlueSkyJaunte 09-13-2004 06:53 PM

Sure hope the prices on hi-cap mags go down. I've only got 3 for my Glock.

Well crap!!! California sucks! Only reason I stay is my job. Sure wanted that Dragunov, MP-5, Uzi, etc........

kmhemi 09-13-2004 09:35 PM

Had an Uzi...you get tired of them pretty quick...

In short, little or nothing has changed in Kalifornia as far as gun legislation is concerned. Until Diane Feinstein and her kind are either voted out (slim chance) or die/retire (we can only hope), it will not change.

The second amendment still lives (weakly) in Kalifornia, as long as you have enough time and money to prevail against the bureaucratic obstacles. For instance if you -- god forbid -- want to legally acquire two handguns here, it takes at least 40-50 days on top of any shipping/logistical lead time. Some products require a FFL to acquire and some are just plain unobtainium legally, I think.

Personally, I am 100% in favor of REASONABLE gun manufacture and ownership regulations. Unfortunately, the 1994 Clinton AWB was a POS piece of legislature, as were/are several others on the books. It was a weak law, with no measurable benefit, and no rational reason to be renewed as written.

Worst of all, any event like today's '94 AWB "sunset" is fuel for the fanatical liberals' disinformation machine. I would guess that more than half of the mass-media reports on this topic have been blatantly erroneous or deliberately misleading. That is the real crime.

My exact thoughts, hopefully before they can pass anymore crappy gun control bills. I need to get a few more for my 23. I bought it right after the ban & it only came with one 13 round clip, extras were $90, before the ban I think they were about $20.

I'm sure Master P & Snoop Dog are in line at the trunk of some travelling gun mechant's car right now.

Lifted!?

Alright . . . now we can all, inattentively, hurl down the carpool lanes, in one of these.

(point being, there are already many deadly assault weapons . . . the one of choice is a cultural thang.)

More lies from the Big Three

ABC News did it again last week in a World News Tonight advocacy-news piece by Bill Redeker on the expiration of the ban. The segment quoted Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton, who warned "we'll probably have more of these weapons in the United States than there are in Iraq in the hands of insurgents." Not true. Iraqi insurgents shoot fully automatic military rifles — the real thing. American target shooters and collectors whose guns were banned by the 1994 law only want to shoot their semiautomatic rifles, one bullet with each trigger pull.

U boyz would honesltly let me put my hands on a gun....knowing my reputation?

Well I guess I am in the right place after all...Porsches and guns what could be better....and I'm glad this is one argument/discussion that I don't have to carry.

So I can sit down in my chair with a couple of my guns and play cowboy and Jihady....

Exactly: I'd love to see a statistic between SUV/soccer mom/cell phone related driving deaths compared to licensed gun-owner shooting deaths in this country.

I bet the moms hands down would overshadow the gun owners.

Overpaid Slacker 09-14-2004 08:37 AM

I think the main effect of the ban's expiration will be that the prices of certain guns (and their accessories) will decrease, maybe substantially. This is not some apocalypse, but too often the Left can't convey its side w/o shrieking hyperbole.

The latest is that they are 27,000 Gun Deaths last year in the USA...now divide that by 300M and you get the percentage...

Sorry, buddy, but Tabby has always seemed kinda tame compared to some of the trolls that have been frequenting this place lately.

azasadny 09-14-2004 10:14 AM

I have always wanted to buy an Uzi 9mm to shoot at the pistol range. I have a Beretta 92FS 9mm that my wife got me several years ago. I may get the Uzi and then take both guns to the range. I may also get some high capacity magazines since they come in handy at the shooting facility...

tabs 09-14-2004 11:06 AM

Skip the UZI....it's an ammunition waster...if you like to pump out rounds it's fine...but there are so many other things to get besides that gun...like an AR 15 (223) or AR 10 (308) by Bushmaster or an M1A by Springfield Armory (308)..or a tactical rifle by Prescision Shooting (308) thats good for 1000 yds...

Oh yeah...Tabby has never bin into blunt force trauma....his methods are far more subtle....so that you might not even know your pockets bin picked...besides Tabby has grown respectable now and is an accepted contributer who gets listened to...therefore he doesn't need to rabble rouse....

U might not understand everything he says but you now take it home and think about it,....
