Stack Of Lies, Exaggerations, & Misrepresentations

From: The Georgia Vine: The Kudzu of Political Newsletters

We were amused over the initial "embellishments" John "Fife" Kerry made regarding his military service. However, much as during the Clinton years, the lies began to be uncovered so fast that we lost track of them! So, we began compiling a list - in an effort to not forget any. We're sure we missed some and look forward to contributions, but here's what we have so far:

Kerry claims to have heard the news reports of Martin Luther King Jr.'s death while in Vietnam - although King was murdered seven months before Kerry was in Vietnam.

Kerry claims to have a Silver Star with combat "V". The Navy, as well as any other military service, never issues a combat "V" with a Silver Star. The Navy is now investigating.

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman, whose signature is on John Kerry's Silver Star award, says he has no idea where it came from. "... I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," Lehman said.

While Kerry claims to have released his military records, only six documents are available through the Freedom Of Information Act. Dozens are not available. Kerry could complete a single form (#180) to open his records to the public.

Rear Admiral William Schachte Jr. says he was on the boat when Kerry accidentally self-inflicted his first Purple Heart injury and there was no enemy fire at the time. Enemy fire is a requirement to receive the Purple Heart.

Kerry claimed a Purple Heart for an "injury" incurred when he fished a crewman out of the water under enemy fire. Nobody in the other four boats fishing men out of the water noticed any gunfire.

Kerry claims a pet dog, named "VC", was blown from his boat and onto another boat when his hit a mine. The problem is there is no reported incident of his boat hitting a mine.

Fellow boat crewmen do even not recall a dog named "VC". One even mentioned the foolishness of the name since calling for the dog while on base could result in soldiers reacting badly ... "VC! ... VC! ... ".

Kerry claims to have gone into Cambodia as part of the Nixon administration's Cambodia incursions on Christmas Eve of 1968. It was seared, seared into his memory. The problem? Nixon wasn't sworn in as president until January of 1969.

Kerry claims to have had Navy Seals on the boat with him while in Cambodia. The problem is that no Navy Seals were utilized in the incursions. Kerry later claimed it was really a CIA agent ... claiming Navy Seals and CIA agents were interchangeable.

Kerry also claimed he took fire from the Khmer Rouge while in Cambodia. The problem is, the Khmer Rouge did not exist in 1968.

All living superior officers including Tom Anderson, Commander of River Division 531, says no Swift Boats went into Cambodia, much less with Navy Seals or CIA agents. Fellow Swift Boat crewmembers from the same boat say they never went into Cambodia as well.

Kerry claimed to have thrown his medals away at a public demonstration while later showing his metals to others. His explanation was that he really threw his ribbons that, like CIA agents and Navy Seals, were interchangeable.

Imagine being able to fabricate this many lies over a mere four months and twelve days in Vietnam!

Damn. I watched 'Outfoxed' last night, and thought this was going to be a thread about Fox News - the guys who invented the 'flip flop' moniker at the behest of the GOP.
