remember my mailorder anxiety?
well, something very strange just happened. i got an automated call, from some computer claiming to be the fraud dept. of my credit card. they said, in order to verify my identity, i would need to put in my year of birth, then i asked if i made any purchases recently, then it asked for my last four digits of my SSN, i hung up at the purchases part. i called my CC, and they stated that there is no evidence that the fraud dept. would need to talk to me. they also verified no additional purchases were made, but PHEW! that was friggen close. like i said, nothing better than walking into a store with cash money.

true true. the only internet transactions that I have made always used money orders or such. at least this way if you get taken, the maximum you stand to lose is the face value of the check, and your identity is never threatened with theft
