69 camaro convertible fyi

I saw in hot rod that they are doing a NEW steel bodied convertible car, you buy all the pieces and drive train you prefer. the body is $12k, plus the parts. Hotrod magazine is tryng to do one with a vette engine, 6 speed, for $25k complete, ready for the track.

Sounds pretty cool. I'll bet it is the start of a trend. Muscle car popularity is off the charts and some of the prices are off the charts as well. Definitely a market for something like that. I'd be interested in a 1968 Mustang Shelby GT500 replica myself ...... an original sold recently for arund $150K - that's alot of money and a rare car to really have any fun driving around in. A replica for, say, $30K though? You could drive that like it was intended and not worry about it!

yes, the article stated that often, the restoration of a body in poor condition can run the 25k alone, not including the repro interior, bumpers, and drivetrain. Plus you get all the upgrades as you build.(fancy wheels, custom steering, stereo, new technology fuel and ignition. i miss my 70 mustang coupe, 302 auto.

oh,you noticed!! cool

i am hoping that they do this with many more models. I would like to build a little something for my ladyfriend, she just looks like she's going 100 when she is standing still( well....technically, she is never actually standing still...there is always that little sashay or wiggle that captures my eye...........

The 69 Camaro was a good place to start. Just about everything for that car is available on the aftermarket. The only way it would really be practical in my opinion is if you had a donor car to start with. Who will start the orange county chopper show for camaros now?
