Daughters, cars, accident! pics

My daughter was air lifted from an accident she caused last night. She had been racing another car when she lft the road with these results. She is ok and will be out in a couple of days. Factured vertebre, factured shoulder and lots of other minor cuts and bruises. No one else was hurt thank god. She is being charged with DWI, a felony when involved in an accident. Sorry I'm kind of matter of fact, I love her more than the air I breathe, we are very lucky to still have her. I just want to get a very important point across. If these pics keep somebody else from screwing around, then it helped.

She backed into a rockledge going around 80mph.

If you have kids who are about to drive or are driving show them these.

Sorry to hear about your daughter... I hope she turns out okay. From the pics, she looks very very lucky to even be alive.

Damn! Very glad to hear you daughter is going to be OK, was the other driver involved in the accident and, if so, are they OK?

She was the only who crashed out of three.

Rick,
I can't believe she made it out of that wreck. Many cars would have had an issue with the gas tank being back there.....She is one lucky soul.

Thankfully she'll be OK.

I am sorry this happened. One can only hope this will be an eye-opener for her. My very close to me 16 year old niece just got her license this week. I will make sure she sees this.

WOW! That mazda took a beating and still protected your daughter it seems. Glad to hear she's doing alright and will recover.

When I was 18 I was speeding down the 60 hwy here in socal and I lost control(simplistic description) of my car ( a '91 Mazda 626).

I ended up rolling it 5 1/2 times across 4 lanes of hwy (light traffic) ending up on the other side facing the wrong way. I was wearing my seatbelt and walked away without so much as a scratch. Luck struck again in that the CHP officer who worked the scene (50 miles from my home) was my neighbor - I ended up with a ticket for an "unsafe lane change" which is very basically what happened.

The point is that while I may not have been 100% at fault I was more or less the cause. I was going way over the speed limit so what ever happened I wasn't able to cope with due to that speed. The car and the seat belt saved my life.

Kids - no matter how responsible they seem are just that -kids. Take care and watch them because that is what they need.

rcm: Thank you for posting this. I wil link this thread to the Rennlist & Pelican 944 board, where there are too many people who think street racing is safe. I am glad to hear that your daughter is ok, but boy was she stupid for drinking and street racing.

That said, is it me, or does the guy in the first picture look like an alien? I'm thinking Klingon or Romulan. (Hope it's not you!!)

So as a reference, how old is she? I'm sure Paul will be in here any minute now.

rcm,

She is lucky to be alive after that!

Samething happened to my friend. His 16 year old wrecked while trying to same a semi on a windy CO road. She hit an oncoming car.

All three kids in the car went to the hospital, my friend was worried about everyone suing him. His daughter was a pretty girl before the wreck. After the 6 inch scar on her face healed she was left deformed looking for the rest of her life because of a stupid decision. Now she sports a scar from her mouth to her ear.

Wow, Rick. Few people are fortunate to survive such dramatic consequences resulting from such poor decisions. Hope she'll be OK.

What vertebra(e) did she break? I fractured C6 18 months ago. In a halo for 3 months.

Z, nope not me, the guy who towed the car. I showed the pic to my wife again and she burst out laughing. Thanks for the laugh, he does look like his name should be "zerk" or something.

Wide, she's twenty, so old enough to know better.

Guys, thanks for the kind words.

This where she hit. The dark spot above the rock is where the car landed on it's side. It went thru the air about 45 ft or so before it landed on it's side.

Don't know the guys in the pic.

Slack, I'm sure I was told last night in the middle of it all but, I guess I missed it. It all was kind of over whelming.

Lucky girl you have there Rick.

We just purchased a Protege5 and so far I think it is a great, well made smaller car. Those pictures and the results make me feel even better about our decision. I did not read every post above but I am assuming she was alone in her car. She is fortunate that nobody else was hurt.

I'm sure she has learned her lesson and hopefully she knows she is a very lucky girl.

Would you buy another Mazda?

Yeah, actually now I know two folks who have had pretty big crashes in Mazdas over the last ten years and walked away.
