Electrical / Electronic Gurus - Relay Question
I am looking to obtain a SPST (Single Pole / Single Throw) electrical relay that is Normally Closed for a car project therefore it should be a 12V relay. I can find Normally Open 12V SPST relays all day long but have been unable to locate one that is Normally Closed. Any help and guidance will certainly be appreciated.

AFAIK,
relays tend to be normally open. I suppose you can source one from a speciality electronic shop |
Normally, a decent quality physical relay will have that option. You see, the relay is just a switch, and it lives in one of two positions. It's only marginally more expensive (and often fairly practical) to have a second contact on the other side of the relay, the "b" contact. Typically, a b-contact is NC, while the adjacent a-contact is NO, and they switch places when you energize the coil. Typically.
Try mouser.com. Not well organized, and probably way too much stuff for your needs, but I can almost guarantee they have what you're looking for. Dan |
Yeah,Dan's right, I bought a couple of Square D relays last week,SPST, normally open or closed. Check with a good electrical supply house, they should have them in stock.
