What's with the time (clock time) on Pelican posts?

I set my computer clock to the US div of weights, meas and time. Pelican is always 5 minutes fast. Anyone else notice?

looks 5 minutes fast to me too... I don't think i'll lose sleep over it though. If it were on a linux box or apple it ought'a update its clock automatically. Dunno about windows, haven't used it for years.

My windows box can't tell time to save its life. I reset it routinely, and right now it's ... 11.5 hours out, give or take. Why do I bother?

For some reason IIRC Wayne has always run the clock "off" on his machines.

I used to think it was 9:11 off but it seems to vary.

Have you tried changing out your CMOS battery? Losing time is a tell-tale sign that it's going out.

Should be as simple as opening the case and popping the old one out with a small screwdriver and putting the replacment back in.

If it's soldered in place, you should have a jumper somewhere near it for an additional batter. (This is kinda old technology but may still be around in some of the newer boxes)

Thanks for the info, Randy. I also wear a wrist-watch, and my stereo (also on the desk) keeps time. I've learned to ignore the incorrect time on the computer screen, and would rather spend the hour working on the Porsche rather than working on the computer. :)
