Kerry a Primping Metrosexual Fop?

Fox News published this story online on Friday.

Rallying supporters in Tampa Friday, Kerry played up his performance in Thursday night's debate, in which many observers agreed the Massachusetts senator outperformed the president.
"Didn't my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!" Kerry said Friday.

With the foreign-policy debate in the history books, Kerry hopes to keep the pressure on and the sense of traction going.

Aides say he will step up attacks on the president in the next few days, and pivot somewhat to the domestic agenda, with a focus on women and abortion rights.

"It's about the Supreme Court. Women should like me! I do manicures," Kerry said.

Kerry still trails in actual horse-race polls, but aides say his performance was strong enough to rally his base and further appeal to voters ready for a change.

"I'm metrosexual — he's a cowboy," the Democratic candidate said of himself and his opponent.

A "metrosexual" is defined as an urbane male with a strong aesthetic sense who spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle

Basically directly confirming & validating the negative propaganda churned out by republican websites’ & weblogs’ regarding Kerry’s ridiculous addiction to his appearance!

Unfortunately it seems that FoxNews basically maintains a lower standard for ‘journalism’ than even these ‘blogs do. The quotes were falsified!

Earlier Friday, FOXNews.com posted an item purporting to contain quotations from Kerry. The item was based on a reporter’s partial script that had been written in jest and should not have been posted or broadcast. We regret the error, which occurred because of fatigue and bad judgment, not malice. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134166,00.html

Kerry is a metrosexual, he does primp, and he is a panzy. He uses botox and had a horiffic fake tan the other day.

Would a real guy eat a philly cheese steak this way, i mean come on.

With a quote like "Women should like me! I do manicures" it should be pretty clear it was a joke, and the fact that Fox immediately apologized and pulled the story shows it was an accident.

Rather on the other hand, even though everyone with more than 2 brain cells knew the documents were fake, stubbornly held to his 'story' essentially dismissing opposition by angrily snorting "Don't you know who I am?"

Yep, he even admits his wife is campaigning for Bush in his pre-pillow talk with Bush during the mic up of the interview. He is more of a cheerleader than a reporter, another mad magazine looking redneck Bush supporter.

Sure I can go to school and get smarter, but what school is out there to fix a jackass? Apollo School of de-Jackassing College?

bryanthompson 10-04-2004 01:27 PM

He's not a reporter, he's a pundit. He's hired for his _opinion_. They have Shepherd Smith and Laurie Dhue for the News.

Btw, i believe the correct spelling is "Douche" as in, "Kerry is a waffling douche." It can be used together with the word "bag" to form something like, "John Edwards is an ambulance chasing douche bag."

No he's not, he is a field reporter. He isn't supposed to give his opinion, neither are the news anchors.

MichiganMat 10-04-2004 01:35 PM

My bad.
Lets try again.
Carl Cameron is a Douche.

bryanthompson 10-04-2004 01:41 PM

And, my bad (see, i can admit it) Red's right...

From his FNC Bio:

As chief political correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC), Carl Cameron is responsible for covering a broad range of stories, including presidential, congressional and gubernatorial elections. Cameron also covers all the breaking political news on Capitol Hill and in the courts.

masterbaiter? is that a really good fisherman?

A Quiet Boom 10-04-2004 02:41 PM

OK so Fox makes a mistake and quickly admits and retracts it and they're gonna be compared to that third-rate left-wing rag CBS? Besides anyone who reads the false report would know it's a joke, heck I'm a conservative and even I thought it was a joke. I think the libs are just upset that there is finally a strong television news channel that is at least fair to conservatives if not slightly right leaning.

john70t 10-04-2004 03:35 PM

Does this mean Fox is getting a multi-million dollar fine, like CBS? That would mean the peoples "government" branch called the FCC is non-patisan.

Too many dirty tricks. Y'all are being "enbedded"(take that as you will) by the major news to bother with.

I compared FoxNews to a bunch of amateur right-wing weblogs that have lately being fetishizing Kerry's physical appearance.

I suggested that they are learning some journalistic tactics from See-BS i.e. if you think its true then why bother with such trivialities as actually verifying what is been reported as news.

john70t 10-04-2004 04:11 PM

"Kerry is a waffling douche."
Wouldn't that mean that he is a cleansing agent for an internal stucture of society bloated with self-success, stagnation, and prone to disease?

(Opps. Here I go again-being reactive, biased, and Political. It's nice to challenge "reality".)

Excellent usage of "douche" in a sentence, Mat. If you're really interested in the lexicon definition, the word comes from the German douche which means "shower." For example, "Ich mochte eine douche machen" would be "I'd sure like to take a shower." In english, the term is applied to a feminine cleaning process and any equipment associated with said process. It has also been adapted in English slang as a derogatory term, though the transition seems a little unclear to me; why did "douche" make the successful transition to derogatory slang, but other similar words, say "razor" -- a product often used in the same feminine region -- utterly failed to make the cut?

Anyhow, enough semantics, can we get on with the serious name-calling and other political discussion?

Dan
