We call them soft air guns - little six mm diameter plastic BBs. It appears the backpack holds a crapload of BBs and a compressed air source.
Pretty cool nevertheless.

Are AirSoft guns legal in NZ, Cam?
I owned a couple while I lived in Japan and they are great fun.

I had a huge, steel-bodied Desert Eagle .44 and a Walther PPK with silencer. I was almost crying that I couldn't bring them home!
![]() I gave them both to a neighbour in Japan before I left. They were huge fun for plinking at cans or newspaper targets.
