Anyone attend a Grand Prix Event? Panzer909?
 

I'm considering going to the Montreal Grand Prix in June, 2005, and all I can say is $$$$$$$$$$!.

If a person buys a General Admission ticket, is all you can do is wander around aimlessly or should a person buy the cheap seats for 167 EUROS.

Any suggestions?

Any one else thinking about going?

my folks used this company http://www.gptours.com/ for the GP at indy two years ago. the package was very much worth it as they tell it. the prefered bus parking and evening events prior to the race were top notch. give the site a try, if you opt to not use them there may still be some usful info in helping plan a trip.

My wife and I have gone to many GP events. We were at the Canadian GP in Montreal 10-11 years ago. It was one of our favorites! While not at the track, Montreal is a great city to vacation.

If a general admission ticket will only allow you to wander around, it may not be worth it. If I remember right, there are not many places to view action aside from a grandstand seat. Our seats were at the first corner, where you can count on lots of activity. They were also near the podium. The seats were expensive though.

I'd certainly recommend going if you can get decent seats.

I have only been to three F1s (Detroit, Pheonix, and Indy), but my advice would be to go general admission. When we were at Indy we had seats, but we didn't use them because there were better places to watch out on the infield. But that does kind of depend on the venue, in Pheonix they had put up banners on all the fencing around the course so there were places where you couldn't see the track from the stands even.
What my dad and I like to do is use friday or saturday to scope out the viewing locations, then pick a good one, get there early on sunday and "camp out".

It will be fun either way. The biggest disappointment for me with F1 is that unless you are "special" you can't get anywhere near the cars and the paddock areas.

Zehnd, unless you plan on going to GPs every year, treat this as a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Buy the best seats you can. Consider GP tours, even though they are pricey. Spend a few bux and have great memories! Don't skimp!

At Indy, they built spectator berms so general admission fans can actually see some of the race - they're actually quite nice. I doubt there are many areas to view from at Montreal with a GA ticket. Those places that are available will be crowded with others. Take Rich's advice and buy some good seats. Areas within view of the pit lane are always good since there is continuous action there.
