That's funny, you actually believe the French are tough! France is and always has been a nation of appeasers. They appeased Hitler and were subsequently conquered by him. Now all they do is struggle for relevance. All we have to do is send in the Boy Scouts and they'll send up the white flags. :D
I had been giving you more respect, but you're starting to sound pretty ignorant. I stand by my statement 100%, and you need to educate yourself.

They have A LOT more experience than the U.S. w/ terrorism on their soil, and they are not hampered by U.S. laws in dealing with/interrogating suspects. I hope for your sake that kharma never finds you in a French lock-up, you'll be crying like a baby. A friend who is a lot tougher than you I suspect found himself on the wrong side of French law hung himself after ~2 years in a Paris prison.

My Dad worked in the U.S. criminal justice system. He always said that when criminals from the rest of the world find themselves in an American prison, they consider it Club Med.

Expand your horizons a little, Christian, and turn off the talk radio. There's hope for you.

Speeder are you, as a liberal, suggesting we get tougher on our criminals? There is hope for you as well. My point about France is simple, they have an agenda against us dating back to at least when Reagan bombed Libya, it is naive to think they would help us in our war on terror. Sure France is tougher on criminals, just not the ones we want punished. Saddam is a perfect example, where's the tough French justice for this mass murderer? Oh wait, I forgot, he PAID them to protect him from the US.

Police officer shoots boy who might have had a toy gun at one time, but it's not obvious if he has one now.

Liberal response--Why did you shoot that boy?

Conservative response--STFU, you liberal pussy. The streets are safer now, because that boy might have obtained a gun when he got older, and he might have even shot someone. We have to stay the course in the war on crime.

Christian, I'm not really a good Liberal, but I don't mind the label. I don't consider it perjorative. Some of my best friends are Liberals. :D

I could be a good Republican if they were not so inherently corrupt, ie. letting polluting industries regulate themselves, corporate welfare, no-bid contracts, etc... They are completely and utterly in the pocket of Big Business.

I admire their position on less govt. regulation in general, but certain things need to be regulated. Clean air and water belongs to the poor person in the ghetto just as much as Bill Gates. (Not that Gates is neccesarily a bad polluter). Govt. efficiency and not wasting tax $$s sounds good to me, but not to Bush and Co. I also agree that people should be self-sufficient as much as possible, but it is hypocritical for the GOP to promote this concept while encouraging job creators to leave the country.

At any rate, I'm not a pacifist, I can think of plenty of instances where military force gets my vote, I think that much of the left-wing's positions are inane.

The bottom line is that labels are funny when we are red-assing each other here and elsewhere, but they ultimately don't move the dialogue forward. The good news is that America is not a big apolitical blob anymore, do you remember having debates like this last time? So Bush did serve the National interest after all, by being so horribly incompetent and divisive he has made the average person more politically involved. :)

And we agree again, I am definately happy that there seems to be less apathy these days. I enjoy a good debate on the issues as well, in forces me to read and learn more to support whatever argument I am making and I learn from the competition as well. I in fact have been a moderate conservative most of my life and I'm sure once the election is over I'll become more moderate again. I am for example in favor of a divided congress because it forces both sides to make concessions.
