Senna.

Craig beat me to it. Vic Elford. The first guy to master the early 911.
He could drive anything. Walter Rohrl as well. And of course, Mark Donohue. |
Mark Donohue and Aryon Senna. True legends: their lives cut early. Two people that define the concept of 'being in the zone.' Really understood how to be one with the car.
I met Vic Elford, Hurley Haywood, and John Fitch. All three are fantastic drivers in my book! Kevin Buckler and his Racer's Groupteam - an overall win at Daytona in a GT-classed car - well, that's talent! :) A world class racing program that started in a truly grassroots fashion! (Didn't Buckler raise up the ranks in PCA's DE programs?!) Schumi - he may be arrogant sometimes, and a bit controversial, but he's a fantastic driver! I admire is ability. Jeff Gordon - Yeah, I know - NASCRAP. But this guy blew away the competition early on his carrer. Takes talent to drive that well. He may not be the best stock car driver, but he's a great overall driver. -Z-man. |
Vic Elford (got to ride with him driving a Cayenne, what a hoot!), Johnny Rutherford, Sterling Moss, Jackie Stewart. In no particular order.

Earnhardt Sr. I bet he even drove the wheels off his tricycle when he was a kid.
|
Senna, Donahue, Jimmy Clark, Dan Gurney...
|
I'd have to say Vic, then Hans.... Hans Herrmann! for the way he drove the wheels off the old 550 Spyder back in the day! those guys were Nuts! but it was true motorsport at it's best! and Porsche was a HUGE player back then.
