SNL Debate Spoof

Did anyone see Saturday Night Live this weekend. The first skit was hillarious. The Bush imitation was so-so, but Kerry was dead on! Constant name-dropping, and saying he "has a plan". I think the canidates should watch this to learn where they might have overdone it a bit.

I agree. Both debate skits were uneven.

In the Edwards-Cheney debate, Darryl Hammond was stunning as Cheney, but the Edwards actor was way off the mark.

The actor portraying Bush in the first skit had the voice down, but missed some of his wackier body language, especially what I call the 'vulture bob' where GWB cranes his head forward and bobs his head & neck up & down to emphasize whatever point he thinks he's just made.

Just saw it on Tivo. Both sketches were pretty funny. I agree, the Bush impersonation was a little off though.

"I have a plan" is a fine phrase, but he's holding on to it like a life preserver.

Bush had a plan, too, and subsequent facts didn't keep him from holding on to it -- hence the mess we're in.

I write business plans, and a good plan includes contingencies and alternate strategies constructed around possible changes in the situation. Maybe Kerry's plan is like that. I'd sure like to have him say so, though, rather than repeating simplistic phrases like his opponent.
