Are these scams?
I have just advertised my Lexus IS 200 for sale here in Spain. So far I have received three emails asking about the car:
"hello, We have a Client whos interested in buying your car, if its still available, contact immediately with the last price and recent pictures. Regards." "i want to buy ur car, contact me via my email Best Regards," "hi my client is intrested on your car,i wanna know the last price it go for and the pictures,if the is still a vailble. thanks. Best Regards," I have not answered any of them as I think they are scams (We'll send you a cheque for a larger amount and you send us back the difference). The car is quite normal, so I do not expect to attract atention from foreign buyers, therefore these emails in english look suspicious. What do you think? Thanks, ![]() |

A friend of mine in Italy received similar English e-mails for a Chevy blazer he is trying to sell. He replied with best price and heard no more.
The one I think is definitely a scam is the one another friend (buying this time) on replying to an ad for a car for sale in Italy with the seller in England. The seller first tried asking for a 5% refundable deposit to arrange to see the car as he was trying to weed out time wasters as he had to come from England to show the car and when that failed he tried to have his flight paid for by the viewer. We've since seen this one a few times in Italy with an English seller selling a recent car in Italy. However, the English seller misspells his name, writes atrocious English and is almost uncontactable.

Yes, those are scams. I sell on ebay quite often and those are very similar. Discard and ignore future emails with that type of language.
Good luck.

How much do you want to bet that those emails originated from Nigeria? It is a scam. -Z.
