In May 1970, Kerry, a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy, was in Paris on his honeymoon. He met with Madame Nguyen Thi Binh, the Viet Cong's foreign minister. The next month he joined the Communist-controlled VVAW and helped organize their seditious Winter Soldier hearings in Detroit, along with their march to Washington. These events were designed in rebellion against the U.S. government and to change its policies

From these facts, Kerry also may be in direct violation of the 14th Amendment, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, which states, "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President" having previously taken an oath to support the Constitution of the United States who has "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

I've actually wondered why this hasn't been made an issue before. It's certainly not new news, I've this this posted on anti-kerry websites several months ago. Surely this can't be the "October Surprise" everyone has been talking about.

C'mon, Red...it's common knowledge that Kerry is a "war hero". He could only achieve that staus by being a military guy. And since you loathe the military so much, I find it quite confusing that you would stand by a guy like kerry.

It would seem you would be more at home with someone who "disregarded" his military commitment by being "AWOL", like Bush has been accused of.

Not that I expect to change any votes with this thread, but I still feel like putting in my two cents.

Does it make sense that an organization that really want to overthrow the US government (Sedition) would march on Washington? For those that haven't read much history, marching shoulder to shoulder into the government's stronghold is the last step of insurrection or rebellion, not the first. Why would you call attention to yourself if you had serious plans to take over?

Also, last I checked, changing a government's policies is not sedition, it's democracy. That's kind of what we're all about. Organize and attempt to change the status quo. I don't agree with communism or socialism, but I respect their rights to gather among themselves and to spread ideas. That's one of the things that makes sedition slippery. It's the willing participation in the attempt to overthrow the US government by force.

Also, the 14th amendment according to that article says he can't be a representative, senator, or elector (electoral college). Technically it doesn't forbid that person to be President. Although I believe the later Alien and Sedition Act did make treason and sedition a felony, and therefore make him ineligible for president, had he been convicted.
