Road trip, Pelican's in the Cherokee NC area?
The wife and I are going to spend the weekend of OCT 29-31 in the Cherokee area . I told her it was to see the colors change and take her to the Biltmore Estate in Ashville. The truth is so that I can cruise through the mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway (obeying all of the speed limits ,of coarse) . We are taking her car (Boxster) so we can drop the top and enjoy the "colors"
Can someone from that area tell me if the colors have started changing yet and if so how far along are they. I was wondering if they will be in full peak by Oct 29. If your in the area and see a goofy looking guy with a hot gal (my wife) driving a dark blue 2000 Boxster with the top down , toot the horn and hollar out "Pelican Head " , I'll pull over and treat you to a cool beverage. Thanks Rick

You should be in good shape. I was in NE Tennessee area last Thursday & the colors were just starting to come on. You should be in good shape for the end of the month. That's beautiful country. Have a good trip.

There's lots of great twisties in that area...check out The Cherohalia skyway is another nice drive also... Avoid the BRP (Blue Ridge Parkway) as a ticket there can cost a small fortune...no need to hit the BRP anways (too many 'leaf lookers', etc.)...just stick to the 'back roads'!
