Polls?

I keep hearing about polls showing if the world voted that they would choose Kerry. Has anyone seen one where if the US voted who we sould choose to run France or Germany or any other place we have no vote? If we voted Chiraq of the island would they listen?

France who?

EdT82SC 10-21-2004 09:19 PM

The thing about us Americans is:

1) We don't know who is PM/President/whatever of most any other country.
2) We don't really care.

So they probably don't waste money conducting polls like that.

I am fairly sure he is referring to the place that produces fries... Out by Jurassic Park.

Believe it or not, your country has a big influence on the rest of the world. But it is probably the first time that your elections draw that much attention, because of 9/11, Irak and probably Bush. We love to hate him, there is not much we can do about it.

You should be proud of all that attention, most of those countries say they loves Americans peoples, they just can't understand why you would give another chance to the Republicans.

So what your saying is, becuase you dont like him we shouldnt like him, Right? Becuase we are just too dumb to know what is good for us and the rest of the world? My experiance in French Canada had been that many of the folks were pretentious, snobs, but this is truly amazing. Thanks for the view of the "World"

holy s#$t araine901,

I think Serge914 was just trying to explain his view on the subject as an "outsider". You started this thread... did you not want to hear other people's points of view?

BTW... you asked:

"Has anyone seen one where if the US voted who we sould choose to run France or Germany or any other place we have no vote? If we voted Chiraq of the island would they listen?"

No, but when Chile elected Allende, the US organized a coup. The US is plenty involved in the political process in other countries, hence the strongly held opinions in other countries.

BTW, pls expand on your "experiance in French Canada" [sp]. I've found that the french majority in quebec are among the most open and welcoming I've ever encountered. As long as we're not talking about driving etiquette.

France is an island?

Araine I am not telling you what to do, I am just giving you my opinion.
Sometimes when you are too close to the tree in front of you, you dont see the whole forest.

I have been in foregin countires 47 times in the last 6 years, I have seen a lot of forrests.

As far as FC goes, I have some realy good friends there. I used to go there once a year for a world cup bike race. That was the only place where we had to put snow fencing double high to keep people from just reaching over and barrowing tools out of our tool box or hopping on a 20K prototype bike and "checking it out". Most people felt it was thier right ro walk up and pull my snap on tools out (without asking) and start working on thier stuff. I am sorry but you never touch another mans tool with out asking. I think this works as an absolute. LOL

I just think that if there was a poll saying that the US did not approve of your PM, it would be considerd irrelevent (As it should be) by most Canadains.
