stromberg made me do it
i have never really been interested in the political process in my 20 years of voting eligibility. my interest began about 1 1/2 years ago when arnold started his run for the govenorship of my state. i was outraged and felt it was time to register to vote, to prevent the mockery of minnesota's wrastlin' governor out here by casting my vote against the terminator. i felt pretty good about being involved in the political process, even though he won.
well here it is a year + since the govenator has had the wheel, and much to my suprise things seem to be getting done out here. granted we have put the state in debt for years to come with his borrow from pete to pay paul bond efforts. well i started to find W's act appalling about 2 1/2 years ago when his smug ace lied about things that really mattered. it was not just lying about a stain on a fat chicks dress. the more i payed attention to his, and his cabinets adjenda and act the more i soured on him. my passion for the process grew, and continues to grow everyday a bit more. mostly encouraged by the strombergs and islands of this board, and world. i find myself holding three fingers up like a W and the dropping the two outer fingers and letting the one remaining show where i stand to a person with a W sticker. this has never been in my charcter and i think i have the stromberg to blame. he has brought out the passion in me on this topic and has made my distain for bush palatable. its not a feeling i relish. i am outraged that they continue to cast a smoke screen and bash a guy they knew nothing about until earlier this year. the excuses made for their boy bush and this war HE got us into as a valid war are comical. i wonder if they really think about what they post here, i know i dont, i let emotions take over and i apologise to each one of you for that. i just hope that i wake up on the 3rd of nov and stare at the renates of the bush admin floating in the bowl of my american standard porcelian. even a bad wipe wont be so bad that day. stromberg, the way you preach over and over is not the act of a confident man. your act reminds me of something m,y pops told me once, "when moving if you write fragile on every box it loses its effect". i have decided after much thought, my vote will be cast to cancel out stromberg's, rendering his vote usless. a year and a half ago i was not even a voter, and now iam clipping the berg! |
Best Thread Title This Week.
Take a deep breath, k. Just reflect on the hyperbole used every time someone takes a shot at W, "Nazi" is a favorite. "Oil for Blood" is another bumper sticker, teenager logic staple. W is certainly not perfect, and he's screwed up his share of stuff ... but the unprecedented granularity and severity with which he is reviewed alone should tell you your sources are not telling you everything (read: what they don't want you to hear). Just relax for a second and survey the various deceits and flagrant mischaracterizations that have been presented about W, and that you and many millions of others have fallen for, willfully or otherwise. National Guard, Joe Wilson/Uranium, "Imminent Threat", Richard Clarke, "9/11 Panel finds NO Iraq-al Qaeda link" -- etc. You're being duped, plain and simple ... and we're more upset on your behalf than you are, it seems. The Strombergs are a direct response to the major information conduits -- the severity and rank partisanism of our information sources provoke equally dramatic (though not nearly as broadly communicated) responses. Casting a spite vote is not noble, but there's very little that's noble about Kerry to encourage a principled vote "for" him, so I guess I understand. JP |
:D Excellent, k911sc.
Just relax for a second and think; what if Stromberg el al, have it right!? From what I've seen, those dis'n Kerry may have their faults; but, Being wrong isn't one of them. ;) Now; deep breath . . . ooooooohmmmmmmmmmmmm ooooooohmmmmmmmmmmmm ooooooohmmmmmmmmmmmm ooooooohmmmmmmmmmmmm serenity now ooooooohmmmmmmmmmmmm ooooooohmmmmmmmmmmmm :D |

I agree with Slacker. The only canceling votes come from within a household. Specifically, a partnership where both should be on one side or the other for thier mutual benefit. When husband and wife vote opposite, no one wins.
I'm not going to say which my wife is voting for, but I support her decision. Even though I might have voted opposite, I wouldn't have voted in her direction. So, instead of canceling her vote, I will move on to other issues we agree on and abstain from the presidential vote. If the above bit seems confusing about my position on the candidates, let me make myself clear; I don't like either one of them a bit. I won't toss a vote at Nader or someone else as a "spite" vote. No, I'll just hope my wife is wiser than I and things turn out OK over the next 4 years. I know one thing, Bush won't be around next time to vote for, Cheney wil be dead, or almost, and if Kerry doesn't win, he'll be toast. So, in 4 years I hope that there is some kind of real choice. Steve Stromberg is an intelligent guy, but he is a reactionary. I understand his notions, or rather the notions he has adopted, and I can agree with some of them. However, I would not tend to make a bunch of noise in that direction. Things are not the way they used to be and they are not for the better either. Until everyone realizes what the benefits are to being a civilized and free nation, and the abuse of the system stops, we will continue to become a third world country. My father lived in the best of times. I'm glad I don't have to go too much further in life. Kinda drifted from voting, didn't I? Well, damnit, until we get rid of the current raft of polititians and get some honest people with a proper sense of nationalism, things will continue to slide. Gentlemen, I just don't see any hope with either of the candidates. The ball is your court. |
Ya know I agree with you, but from the other side: It'd be a lot easier to vote for Kerry if his supporters weren't so damn irritating!
I swear I'm pigeonholed all the time at social events by these evangelist democrats who've never taken a class in economics but proceed to parrot out the must senseless crap from the Kerry web site. Here's a hint to the loudest advocates on both sides: STFU and let rational people make a decision based on facts, not propaganda. :D |

After more research and coffe, you'll come to realize the whole demonization of Saddam and the money spent to take him out. Is yet another Whopper told by the Bush admin. The world was better off with Saddam in power, 1100 Americans still alive. 200 billion not blown. 20,000 Iraqis not dead from our bombing, and Iraq not in a civil war. Then you realize Cheney planned 911 after that! |
One more vote for a UNIVERSAL STFU! I cannot WAIT for this election to be OVER!
You know it's getting bad when the only thing we have in common around here is the "Pelican Grid Girls" thread! |
So Stromberg spurred you forward, eh KC? Well, he should be proud, knowing he's in with liberals like P. Diddy, Striesand, and all the other Hollywood types who are "rockin'" your vote.

K911SC Like a lesbian from the Bay area would vote for Bush.
I mean from your title under your Avtar you are telling us that you are a lesbian Correct? Or if I am wrong please correct me. After all that is a term used in the GLT speak that reffers to a lesbian. |

Edited for content. Link removed. -Z-man. |
Don't complain we have nothing in common if you think it's fair accusing a political opponent of treason, Cramer. Hypocritical, to say the least.

Island911 lives "edit" where all the rich and wannabe rich live around Seattle. They live on higher ground with higher morals.
I am voting for Kerry because I can't stand where Bushs administration is going with all their Neocon policys. The way the Bush Admin sends bills to Tom to get passed without any discussion with the Demos in the House and Senate is a joke! I also want a Demo President to appoint the next Supreme Court judges to balance out the court or we will have a total Neocon Court and a House and Senate. If that happens, I see prayer in public schools, Roe vs Wade overturned, tatoos on your arms etc. Grim times in America and I think the Terrorists are winning! Geoff |
Geoff, the dems did a great job putting the scare into you. I'm glad you're voting anyway.

It's pretty sad that some of us has had to resort to name calling as a method of persuasion. K911SC is a good GUY and a friend of mine. I'm glad he's passionate about politics and is getting involved this time around. I do not share his political views but I respect him nonetheless.

K911SC's opening sentence "now i am a woman, a same sex favoring woman no less" is vauge. Taken one way (the way I responded to it :p) it begs for more explaination. That is what I'm poking fun at. ( i 'get' that the sentence should read: So what?. . . now I am a woman?. . ..a same sex favoring woman no less?") edit: delete  |
