EBAY: The worst I've seen it
This is the worst I've seen things on EBAY. I've been using for quite a while and I have been getting more fraudulent bidders than ever. Below is the third such attempt for one auction on a piece of machinery. Originally the auction was closed with a buy-it-now transaction from one of these idiots. This is getting to be too much. Anyone experiencing a surge lately?
I received the following Email from coopperstore17: "I am a agent based in Holland my client is interested in your item,he wants to buy it and he will be sending to you a cashier check of $5,000 you will cash it from the cashpoint immediately you recieve the check and send down to his shipping agent the excess balance of $3,600 which the agent will use to do the pick up of the package asap from your place down to germany it,s final destination, you will send this excess money through western union money transfer. .His shipping agent company will come to pick the item up from your base for shippment to Germany .If you agree to assist , Will you please send your contact mailing address where my client should send the check and telephone numbers so that i will instruct my client to send the check by express priority mail to you. Thanks for your co operation the check can be sent from either africa or from the US Reply me ASAP regards.cooppe"

LOL, yeah, this guy covered every base described in the Internet Scammer 101 handbook. I reported him to the EBAY fraud unit, blocked him and sent a loving response to his email.

It is not just EBay. I have my car posted here and at Trader Online and I receive at least two scams a week. I chased the first one for a week thinking it was a legit buyer until I got the "send the difference" request.

This coopperstore17 guy would have been better off sending you this:
"Hello: I am a not-so-smart scammer trying to rip you off of your hard earned money. I am really not interested in your product. I am not an agent for some guy in Germany. All that is to confuse you into sending me money. The money you send me - you will never see again. The money that I send you will turn out to be fake, but only long after I'm gone with your cash. Now send me your money before I send the Nigerian police after you!" -Z-man.
