I have a prediction...

IF kerry wins, which he wont, but if he does... I bet any amount of money that the media, the ferriners, and democrats will all start showing every good thing that's happened in Iraq and they will give Kerry credit for it.

All of a sudden, this 'wrong war at the wrong time' will be called America's noble mission and Kerry will be propped up like some kind of hero.

This doesn't mean that things will start going better, it just means we will finally hear the good news, which will give the appearance of it going better.

I think you're too entrenched with the idea that news equates partisanship. This is an election year, and certainly it does in that regard. But once the election is over, all bets are off. Do you remember how the so-called liberal media treated Carter in '79? How about Clinton during the Monica scandal?

The idea is this: if Kerry does win, he'll do no better at the final resolution of this war than Bush. I truly can't see militia putting down their weapons because JFK says so, and we will never pull out of their - at least not in the next ten years. Thus, Kerry's hands are tied. Pundits will lambast him for not having a plan, or if he does have a plan, not executing it well. He's no more immune to the media than anyone else.

The media's waiting for him. They're lurking...

You don't even have to go that far back...

Look what the "Librul" media did to Howard Dean.

Ruined him with one soundbite.

I'll book that:) The absolute MAX Kerry could get if he squeaks out all the close ones is 303. That's the MAX.

Bush's max is 335

News organizations want to make money. For capitalists, this is a good thing. Okay, if that's what you want, then you should be happy getting it. Right now, the talk of the nation is Iraq and Dubya. The news media is not manufacturing this controversy, but yes they are doing a good job of sensationalizing it. Again, you capitalists are happy, right?

Sometimes, on a slow news day, a local TV news outfit might tease viewers with something like "THERE IS A DANGER LURKING IN YOUR HOME THAT COULD KILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, AND YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT.....STORY AT 11:00" Of course, lots of folks tune in and they talk about how dangerous it is to step on a bar of soap. That's manufacturing a story where there isn't one.

But that's not what's happening to Dubya. News organizations have a choice between two stories. They can present an overall assumption that we're safer because Dubya is clobbering the Muslims. They'd have to point out that terrorist attacks have not occurred for the last couple of years here in the US. YAWN. or they can report something that is sensational like......oh for example the killing of humans in Iraq. We love a contest, and there's fighting there. Irresistable. Besides, the media loves to pick on the POTUS. Dubya's in the line of fire, not because he is a conservative but because he is POTUS.

The conservative party, and the media, did a pretty good job of coordinating their efforts to crucify a very effective sitting president over a blow job. Welcome to the big leagues, Mr. Bush.

And in this case, there is PLENTY of material for media to work with. Lots more than they had in the Lewinski scandal. LOTS more. Someone recently said here that if Kerry wins, he has the excellent circumstance of having nowhere to go but up. There is not one aspect of Dubya's administration that has not been completely botched, save one. And that would be his important election campaign work, which is the one great skill that republicans have. I just wish they knew how to operate a government.
