How long does it take to repair a amp?

Took my amp to get tubes biased, first placed screwed it up by leaving the old tubes when 2 of my new tubes burnt. Second place I called to get a time estimate... drop off my amp sometime in end of Aug I get a qoute of 2 weeks top for a bias and a look over ...3 weeks pass I call...The tech is busy ...i kinda get angry i call almost everyday cause i want this fixed. Finally I get a call saying that my tubes are mismatched so I have to wait a week to get my tubes from L.A ., they say as soon I get my tubes the amp will be fixed. I finally get the tubes on Oct 20...and still no fixed amp and no call. I have not called them since I dropped them off on OCT 20. They were getting annoyed with my calls, but I dont care this is a Marshall jcm 800 tube amp that just need a re bias and look over. And they quoted me 2 weeks tops and it has been over a month and 2 weeks, granted we had to wait a week for my tubes, but a damn month? If i dont get a call back by Friday i am going over here and demanding my amp back and saying screw them !!! what rights as a consumer do I have? I feel I have been very patient with them.

Biasing an amp should only take a half-hour. Tops. I think the JCM has pots for adjusting bias. Are those 6L6 power amps? Should be able to come up with a matched pair pretty quickly. I had an Ampeg VT-40 recapped and biased last year. 1 week turnaround. I think you're getting jerked around....

They've probably loaned it out to some rock band that is giging with it in greasy joints every night. Or they've ruined, stolen, or sold it. My amp tech turns everthing I have around in 2-3 days tops.

EL 34's its a 1987 JCM 800 daul channel 100 watt head. It needs a tech to bais it. The first place (field services ( dont go there they are full of *****) charged me $100 for a bias and resoder pots? A complete lie as the second amp tech said he saw no such thing, he said the JCM 800 were maintaince free. So I am still awaiting a letter for this second amp tech to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I think I have been pretty patient, what kills is the fact that I havent been able to play my strat in over a month because of these clowns.

My turnaround is max two-three days depending on schedule, but I am a special case since when I or my clients need an amp repaired, it normally needed to be fixed YESTERDAY. Granted someone can have a backlog of work that might push that out, but it doesn't sound like you have a good, reliable tech operating on your stuff here.

Go to fenderforum.com it is one of the best guitar forums out there. Register and there are numerous forums there. Ask the guys in Phoenix who the good guitar techs are in town. I'd bet there are plenty there. They'll have you fixed up in a couple of days. Then tell the bozos that have your amp now they are some lazy, sorry ass fools. Good luck.
