Edwards can't deliver home state.

North Carolina gives Bush 13 point win. Kerry insiders concede Florida may be lost.

Looks like Ohio may be the critical battleground.

Yup.

It's also such a laugh to see Tad Devine and Joe Lockhart up there spinning away about how Florida really didn't matter; it was a secondary focus; the real test is in Ohio. When (if) they lose Ohio, what will they say then?

This is something that was little-discussed thru all the race for the White House, Edwards political career would end with this election.
Before and during the campaign it was pretty widely held that Edwards-Kerry would not carry NC, that Edwards' empty seat would go (R), that NC was thru with him when his term was up. All of this seems to have come to pass, John Edwards will likely become a footnote.

There's always the Breck shampoo ads.

"Breck shampoo ads." Thanks, Mule!

His wife just got diagnosed with breast cancer.

At the risk of sounding insensitive; Who would dare be her surgeon?

She'll have no trouble. I've operated on personal injury attorneys before. I've also operated on crack whores and other miscreants. Contempt for the profession doesn't transfer to the individual, particularly when they are suffering.

hmmm.. .

I wasn't really considering "contempt for the profession" but rather the fear of the profession.

People get pretty emotional when their loved-ones are facing a low-win situation.

We've all heard of "shotgun weddings". I would expect that working (Sx) on the wife of a practiced, sucessful, ambulance-chaser would feel similar.
