How many Dems now think they should have run Howard Dean?
I'm a Republican and would never have voted for Kerry, but I think I might have had to give serious thought to voting for Dean. Appeared to be more mainstream to me. Unfortunately, the media decided they didn't like him.

I think Dean would have been better than Kerry, which is why he had to be eliminated early.

All I have to say is..
raaaarrrgghhhh! |
Have you heard that great Yahoo! Local ad with HD:
"I'm going to do some traveling to OHIO!, and then check out IOWA!, then CALIFORNIA! and then DC!!" Really funny. Guy can laugh at him self, like Bob Dole could. |

Howard Dean energized the democratic base, he was building that base up and could of swung over to the center after the Boston convention. He could of won it all.
GWB energized the religious base of the republican party (Evangelist and Baptist) but put them in the shadows of the back row at the republican convention while guys like Arnold and McCain spoke to the TV. The antidote to Bush was Dean but the democratic establishment wanted to play the middle ground again like Clinton was able to do. PBS Frontline TV show exposed the Karl Rove tatics that won Bush the govenrship in Texas. They used a anti-gay format to get the religious people out to vote, going so far a putting an image of two gay men kissing under the windshield of cars on Sunday in church parking lots. The flyers claimed that the current governor was in favor of gay marriage, she was not, but the facts were overrun with fear and hysteria. Fast foreward to 2004 and on the state ballots...........constitional changes banning gay marriage and rights to civil unions. Theory brewing; Precinct No. 1 in Ypsi is in a Methodist church. Also my buddy voted at the church combination synagogue (only in Ann Arbor). How would people feel if they were told to vote at a Mosque? I got to thinking, does the majority of "Red" states vote in churches? Can voting in the house of God have a psychological impact? If the religious leaders tell their flock to vote for the candidate who will put an end abortion rights, how can a church be neutral territory? All hell is going to break lose oneday. The churches might be getting their way today, and get what they want. However I can foresee a terrible backlash for their meddling in the American political system. One day the Evangelist and Baptist will be crying, "help us". I will not hear them, they have made their bed and must lay in it. What's up with Ohio, they have double digit unemployment and they vote for Bush? WTF, they deserve more of the same, suffer Ohio, suffer - you earned it. Guess saving unborn American babies is more important than all the miscarriages and birth defects in Iraqi babies because of the depleted uranium ammunition we have used there in the past 15 years. Bring them on......................they heard you GWB, what are you going to do now? |

The confederacy finally won more states (see old map)..................................when do I get to own a slave?
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/academic/...nts/secede.gif Compare to 2004 election map...................interesting, right? http://news.yahoo.com/electionresults |
chibone_914, it's not a ****ING joke! This is ****ing serious, Bush is going to DESTROY this country even more than he already has.. We're not "cry-babies," we just don't want to see this counry become even worse than it already is. And you peices of **** just make jokes about it.. It's not a joke, and it's not funny.
I realize Kerry isn't great, in fact, I don't like him. But anybody is better than GWB. |

How about voting in schools where they teach that abortion is a right, gay lifestyles are fine, gun ownership should be abolished, higher taxes are the solution to all problems etc.
I don't agree with the argument that the voting venue influences the vote. It's a secret ballot. You don't have to call out your vote standing at the pulpit. Also, the country is not destroyed. If you'll look at some of the things W has done, you'll see that he actually pushed through some favored Dem legislation like prescription drugs and increased education spending. The bitterness of this election will pass and you on the left will still be able to try and convince one and all that you have a better idea. Remember, Clinton won two terms. |

I don't go to church myself, but I'm not about to deny middle America thier traditions based on some absurd ACLU-type argument that vampires may feel "intimidated" if they are required to vote in churches. Get a grip, man. |
Abortion IS right, gay lifestyles ARE fine, gun ownership.. I don't really care about, if you want to own a gun go ahead, taxes can be the solution to some problems if done correctly...
|
My point was that churches teach a certain way and schools sometimes teach other points of view. Both are are used as polling places.
I would hope that a person wouldn't be influenced to vote a certain way just because the polling place was in a school or church. |

How about elections in Iraq? Should a Mulla in favor of killing Americans be able to hold part of the January election in their Mosque? I'll wait for you to define a Mosque as "completely" different than a church. I'll wait for you to define religion controlling politics in Iran or Iraq as bad, yet in America it's just dandy. Who is supposed to protect us from religion? The government? |

Even still, I voted in an elementary school. We always do that in the DC burbs. In more populous areas, there are churchs on every corner. I can't say if that's WHY they are used for voting. A church or a mosque is just a BUILDING. If you're intimidated by that you have some issues. |
