Battle Born! I'm proud today to be a Nevadan.
Our great state this morning put our President over the threshold to Electoral College Victory.
Our State Motto: "Battle Born". We joined the Union of the United States of America at the height of the Civil War, on the side of the North, the forebearer of our present administration. I was able to vote, almost 3 weeks early due to the reforms described by Bush v. Gore almost 4 years ago. It gives me great pleasure to be one of the 1500 or so voters that let all 5 Electors cast their vote for four more years. The State of Nevada truly held four Aces in that last hand played this morning. |

Thank you. Unfortunately I live in Ca where the majority of voters and I don't see eye-to-eye. To my defense, my Orange County favored Bush, and most all other Republican candidates by over 60% to Kerry and his motley crew.

I think I might just have to come out to Vegas and contribute to the local economy in thanks. Mind you, I don't want to contribute to the casinos, from whom I hope to take money. But strip clubs and gin mills, absolutely.

No income tax and Yucca Mountain. Couple of great things about the Silver state.

JP;
The way I see it your losses (costs, business expenses) are pretty well defined in the mills and clubs. AND, you get a receipt for the expense report. The casinos have no stop-loss and no receipts. Dr. Paul; I was surprised how close the California popular vote actually was! Maybe someday it will actually be a close state. It's sorta funny, as Clark County grows at 5000 people a month (more or less every month since 1980), the voting demographics are starting to mirror California. Any doubt about why?

72% of the state is OWNED by the Federal Government. Yet, the fight about Yucca Mountain is still on. A close contest, but the odds are that the citizenry will win the war, even after losing several battles. I think they'll stop the repository by stopping the shipments thru populated areas. There is even a movement to institute an income tax. Sponsored by the liberals and supported by the developers and casinos. The libs need more money to spend. The developers are tired of having to pay for infrastructure every time they build 5000 homes in the middle of the desert. The casinos are the ones paying for everything else at the moment in lieu of the income tax on residents. They'd like to see that change as gambling is pretty well established.

My dad lives in Reno. He said Nevadans were mad at W when he went back on his word to not put the waste in Yucca. I thought the place was already built and just awaiting the shipments.
I hope it doesn't get an income tax.
