A sad day
At the moment, I live in a country that sits right below a horizontal sliver of land populated by the largest concentration of Muslims outside of the Middle East.
If Bush and Cheney win (and it looks they will) and continue to antagonise Islamic extremists with the implementation of arrogant and insensitive foreign policy, then there is every chance that Western nations, also under the leadership of unenlightened, sexually repressed baby boomers who continue to dismiss these fundamentalists as barbarous psychos, will become close to uninhabitable for people unwilling to live in a constant state of fear. I think I'll go throw up and then email Abu Musab al-Zarqawi my jumpsuit size. Sleep well. ![]()

Dude, IslamaFacists are NOT a product of Bush and Cheney.
No matter how many times you, or Micheal Moore say it.

Watching CNN right now and Wolf looks like he might cry. He sounds a bit like Harry Carey pulling for his boys

But why antagonise them? What's the point? As far as I can tell, all it does is give trigger-happy, Freudian case studies like Bush and Cheney a flimsy excuse to create new wealth for themselves, their families and their malevolent cronies at the expense of "expendable" Americans. It's revolting. Check out the scan below. See that smile? That's when I was proud to be an American. ![]()

Matt: the most I can hope for is that GW Bush, in his second term, will realize the polarized state the U.S. is in. What does that mean? That maybe Bush might show some sense of being contrite, and listen to views that aren't entirely his, and apply positive change to his international policies in lieu of those views.
But I have to say, if I were non-American in any foreign country but a foreign country with the least bit of contact with the U.S., I too would be frightened. I don't see Bush changing in any way. I, in fact, see a severe curtailing of many rights Americans have taken for granted, and further destruction worldwide at our hands. Our country has become according to Republican pundits, very, very conservative. I can't say this is a bad thing at the hands of a different president. But Bush has shown an incredible ability to "not listen" and "not care." However, blame - if it can be used - should not be placed on Bush for that. He's simply arrogant. What you are truly seeing is the U.S. transmogrify into a very conservative country. Then again, Kerry was a horrible choice. The Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of preparation and an inability to provide an adequate candidate. Nonetheless, I concur with you: I believe, if they haven't arrived already, the dark days will soon be upon us.

God damnit. I thought once this day was over, we wouldn't be parted down the middle by politics and endless inuendos at every turn.
Yes, I could have ignored this thread, but you guys have and seemingly will invade every f*****g thread with your comments. So I speak out here and now. For once, after months, I'd like to believe I could read a thread in OT for enjoyment and not be bombarded with politics. When I came to this Pelican BBS somewhat over two years ago, this s**t wasn't going on. But as the election season has crescendoed, it has been as thick as sour cream. And now, the USA is impugned for it's choice in temporary government office holders. So, I guess in the aftermath, the haraguement will continue. Not content to leave well enough alone once the election is done, another thread started to rile the members. A totally inappropriate one, at that. From this night on, what our country needs is some unity. What this forum needs is some peace. Contribute to both, if you're up for a challange. |

He didnt start the fire but he sure as heck isnt doing anything to help put it out. Michael Moore whatever, anyone who is truly into politics will do real research and not depend on a filmography. I voted for Kerry, why, I see him as the lesser of two evils, also means cheney is gone. As far as I am concerned homeland security is a bunch of bs, invading Iraq was horribly mishandled and his plans for the future are not very confidence inspiring. Flame at will, I stand by my decision!

It's a political thread, Milt. It's a political season. WTF? The stuff is interesting. And yes, polarizing, because that's where we are now. We're polarized.
And whether we're impugned or not with temporary government office holders, they're decisions will have implications on us long after this thread, BBS and Pelican is gone.
