The sound of freedom

Ahhh, the sound of freedom. I just heard a sonic boom from one of the test flights of the F-22 out of Atlanta. What a great sound!

M Battery is a Marine artillery unit out of Chattanooga. When you see news about artillery in Faludjah, that's our boys. A friend was telling me the other day that he got a call from a friend over there on the firing line while they were attemting to hook up some peace lovers with allah & the 72 virgins. He said, I want you to hear the sound of freedom & held the phone up while the howitzers were going off.
God bless the USA!

Mule, you do have a way with words!

I attended my cousin's graduation from U.S. Army Ranger school a few weeks ago at Ft. Benning, GA. He's been deployed in Bosnia with the 10th Mountain Division and several deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq with the Rangers prior to this final stage.

They put on quite a series of demonstrations. Complete with explosions, Blackhawk operations, rappelling, mock team operation with weapons, drops into the water, even uses of C4 such as making a shaped charge using a coffee can! I could feel/hear the strikes in the extended "mock" hand to hand combat demonstration! Definitely some tough hombres.

You are ignorant. And so is he...

They must really brainwash you when you join the military, if it's that easy to just kill some poor guy.

And you have the nerve to call SOMEONE ELSE ignorant? I haven't laughed so hard in such a long time.

You really do have a lot of growing up to do, son.

I'm sorry I don't have the mentality of a 5 year old, treating life like a video game. You're pretty ****ing sick.

I'm quite tired of people trashing military spending of late. Go take a look at how many B-17s were purchased and how many were lost over Germany and such...then go look at how many F-117s were purchased and lost over Bahgdad during the GulF war. The technology we spend our hard earned tax dollars on SAVED AMERICAN lives. We didn't loose a single F-117 over Iraq in that conflict and we don't have hardly a fraction of them in service compared to other bombers we've had. Compare them to losses over Vietnam....How many B-2s do we have to do the job of how many B-52s?

Seriously folks - one costs leaps and bounds more but it saves lives and does the work of multiples.

The F-22 is a fine replacement for the F-15 (which is a fine aircraft as well I might add).

Well, at least you have something to aim for while growing up.

And you're right. I am sick...sick of listening to the whinings of a child. Go to your room, turn that damn computer off and finish your home work. You're grounded!

No, you're immature because you haven't grown up. Your childhood ranting and whining betray your lack of maturity and experience. That's not meant as a slam against you, it's just the way it is.

Oh, one more thing, I don't want to kill anyone either.

I am ashamed that this nation has so many whining, pathetic, little babies who depend on others to protect them...They are so ashamed by their own cowardice that they belittle those men who recognize what has to be done to live free and defend one's nation and famiily... and have the inward strength to do what is necessary....

Sounds like the rantings of a pacifist. They probably wouldn't raise a hand to protect their own families. Why should he feel bad for sending some shells in on some troublemakes setting up shop in Fallujah. They would gladly do the same to him if they had the chance. That's how my uncle delt with flipping the boom switch on the B-29's.

Mule...My friend in Chattanooga talks about the booms from the F-22. He told me they would be coming since he read in the newspaper they would be testing around the area. I'm going to be down that way in a few weeks.

Well Clown, an astute statement like that would cerdainly distinguish an iganorant person from a learned one, as you probably assume yourself to be. Would you like to argue the facts or just call names? "Cause the fact is that you wouldnt stand a preyer either way.

Widebutty, I don't know what you spent on that wing (which probably dropped 10 mph off your top speed) but IMHO air superiority for the forseeable future is much more justifiable than useless decorations.

I think this explains what's going on here perfectly"
How do you tell the difference between Liberals, Conservatives and
Southerners? Pose the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner,
locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges.

You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere
seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?

Liberal Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that
would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think?
What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock
the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have an appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this
send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just
killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he
was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and
weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage
such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few
days and try to come to a consensus.

Conservative Answer:

BANG!

Southerner's Answer :

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click...
(sounds of reloading).

Wife: "Sweetheart, he looks like he's still moving, what do you kids think?"

Son: "Mom's right Dad, I saw it, too."

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click.
Daughter: "Nice group, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips?"

Clowd, killing people is sick.

Being killed by not acting to protect yourself is stupid. Building an army is a deterrent. Having superior airpower is a deterrent. Having the power available to defend your country and fellow citizens is responsible.

Allowing some radicals control your freedom is sick, not doing anything about it is irresponsible. Enjoying the freedom without supporting it is not OK but, as American's we are free to agree or disagree (for the record I don't agree with your stance).

Whinning about it is not OK, being ashamed for being an American is not OK its anti-American. It show's lack of maturity. Being mature you might disagree but you dont whine out of one hole and stay behind because that hole is safe by the same things you criticize. You either disagree and do something about it with the means allowed by our system, or disagree and shut up or disagree and leave.

Sorry to bring the other thread here but, you leave me no choice. If you are so ashamed of being an American, just pack up and leave. Don't blame your friends for staying here.

Show your purported maturity and accept you stay because you are full of it. Leave your friends behind, they apparently don't mind staying and enjoying the freedoms the rest of the world so badly envy and that the brave in uniform allow us to enjoy.

Having travelled all over the world many times, I have a suggestion; go travel the world, experience it first hand. You'll come back grateful you were born here.

Let me say first off that I _mostly_ agree with what you've said. BUT, let me tell you my concern, one that I think is shared with many of my fellow lefties.

My concern is that America has turned in my manager.

My drunken manager who takes constant ridicule and **** from his bossy wife and then comes to work with a rotten attitude, telling everyone whats wrong with their work.

- We ask for supplies, he says "what for?".
- We ask for help, he says "figure it out yourself".
- We say, "hey, take some time off, figure your isht out". He's says he's doing fine. He says its hard work doing the job he's doing, that he's doing the best he can, and how dare we suggest anything to the contrary.
- We say, "can we help?". He says "mind your own damn business".

So we deal with the broken promises, the lack of support, and the rotten feedback and we come to work each day and do our job with the hope that one day this guy will quit or be fired by somebody who has the power to remove him. As a team, we know what we're capable of, we know how good it could be, but we refuse to become the person we hate to make it better. You're right, we need a plan.

Im not going to quit, Im not going to leave. I love this job, I love where I live, and this noisy, tired, ******* is not going to take it away from me. So while he makes mistake after mistake, squanders our opporitunities, and refuses to change his attitude of self-destruction, we hold our own. We'll get rid of him eventually.

Can you understand why we're concerned? Does this make sense? Please elaborate.

My friend's can't leave due to passports and such.. I am lucky enough that my father is an Irish citizen and it is pretty easy for me to obtain an Irish passport.. It's easy for me to leave, it's not so easy for most.

I think I'm rubbing you guys the wrong way.. I'm not saying I'm ungrateful to live here, I realize that it is one of the better places to live in the world.. but it's going down the ****ter and it's out of our control now. I find it disgusting that GWB could get in again after what he's done..

That's why I am angry, the people here are obviously so brainwashed that they find him to be a great man, I don't want to be classified as an American if that's what 51% of the people here think like.

I also find the blind patriotism absolutely STUPID here. People that treat a flag like it's some sort of sacred artifact. Yeah it's great to be proud of your country, but they just take it too far here.

Again - although it probably sounds like it, I'm not an ungrateful, selfish peice of **** that thinks America is the worst place in the world..
