Woman to give birth at age 57

I wonder about the wisdom of this. Is it fair to the children (twins) who will have a 77 yr old mother and unknown father when they turn 20? Another abomination of New Age thinking......... Poor kids.

Please discuss.

New Age mystic to become mom at 57
Aleta St. James conceived twins through in-vitro fertilization

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A 57-year-old New Age mystic is pregnant and could tie the record for the oldest American to give birth to twins.

Aleta St. James, a former actress whose Web site describes her as a healer and success coach, conceived the children through in-vitro fertilization, her doctor said.

She is scheduled to deliver her twins by Caesarean this week, according to The Associated Press.

"I'm very young and vivacious and my whole world is about manifesting, so I decided to manifest children," St. James said.

Jane Miller, director of the North Hudson IVF, a fertility clinic in New Jersey, said St. James was her patient for several years before she discussed in-vitro fertilization. "It wasn't like she just came to ask to become a record or be some statistic," Miller said.

In my opinion, it is not fair at all. A grandmother is having a child....

But then there are grandmothers who raise their grandchildren out there. Not sure generally speaking how well those kids fare, but...

Either way, I don't think it's right.

Yes, that is kinda silly. It would be one thing if she and gramps were knockin' the boots and she ended up in the family way, but she went out of her way to get pregnant by alternate means.

Disgusting. Chalk it up to selfishness. And the men aren't much better.

Larry King had a kid VERY late in life - while in his 70s I think. So did Tony Randall. Randall died and the kid isn't even ten years old - so much for dad "sticking around."

As for King, do you think he can throw a football to his boy without his arm falling off?

I agree with dd74, that's disgusting and unnatural!
