Perhaps the toughest endurance race
http://www.vendeeglobe.fr/uk/
The rules are simple...one man, one boat, around the world in some of the toughest sailing conditions imaginable. No stops. There is one USA guy entered, underfunded, a definite dark horse. His boat was built in Portland, Oregon. It's okay to root for the underdog, but it's not the way to bet! ;) Here's a link to his site...GO UNDERDOG! http://www.oceanplanet.org/op/index.cfm |
This used to be known as the BOC cup, correct?
When I was a lad, I wanted to do that... bad. Now, give me a santa cruz 27 and a a solo trip to Hawaii, if I make it ok, I'll keep going to Aus. Ah.. sometimes, I really miss sailing.:( |
If I'm not mistaken, the BOC Race allowed 4 stops along the way. This one's tougher in that no stops allowed for repairs. Fix it with what you carry, or drop out...
