Blockbuster Offers $700M for Rival Chain: I say Take the $$$ and RUN
I'm figuring that DVD and the dwindling VHS tape market days are numbered....overall. With the continuing prolifiration of high-speed, broadband pipes I'm thinking I'd juice up the offer from Blockbuster and run wit da money.
What do y'all think, another 5 to 10 years tops? http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041111/ap_on_bi_ge/blockbuster_hollywood_entertainment

Sure looks to me like we'll all be downloading movies digitally off the internet soon - just like music now. Not sure where the corner video store will fit into that.

I don't know, it would sure help them out. With everybody getting in the online rental game, they are still going to lose business. I used to go to Blockbuster all the time but when Netflix came out and offered me a better deal, I took it. Blockbuster kept nailing me with late fees. The late fees weren't for the time it was late but for a whole other day rental when it was 1 hour late. That got to me, paying $9.00 for a movie to rent it for 4 days. I could end up buying a movie for that price so now instead of renting, I go to Best Buy and buy movies once a month on their 2 for $20 special.

Sheesh, how many movies I could've bought with late fee. It all but stopped me as well.
