I've offered to buy a plane ticket for one lucky leftie, providing they stay there and give up all US citizenship, and guarantee their children and grandchildren will never come to the US.

fintstone 11-11-2004 06:25 PM

Bryan...I am good for another ticket!

BillyIdaho 11-11-2004 07:01 PM

Leave? What ? And miss out on listening to you guys whine about us being here?

Nah!!

klaucke 11-11-2004 07:30 PM

You guys are exceedingly un-American to make such comments above. It is the duty of the dissatisfied citizens to STAY, AND MAKE CHANGE. That is what this country is about. And it's not their choice to stay, it's THEIR DUTY. It is the liberals who bring the tides of change, known as progression. No one complains about the abolishment of slavery now-a-days.

fintstone 11-11-2004 08:01 PM

It is the liberals who say they want to leave...they are the "anti-american " you refer to. why should they be made to stay if they would prefer to live elsewhere...and change is not always progress. Hitler brought change to Germany..

Oh...and Lincoln was a republican.....as were the folks who led the passage of civil rights laws.

klaucke 11-11-2004 08:23 PM

Yes, liberals who want to "leave" would be anti-American. That's what I was getting at, but so is anyone who advocates this.

You missed my point, it's not about specific party. I'm not a Rep or Dem, nor do I care for either party specifically. But Lincoln did bring a wave of change that Southern conservatives were not fond of, that's what I mean by progression. Who cares that he was Rep, it's beside the point.

A Quiet Boom 11-11-2004 08:40 PM

The point is a lot of celebs suggested they would leave the country if Bush was re-elected, we just want to help them. ;)

klaucke 11-11-2004 08:43 PM

I realize you're joking around, but that is a stance that ultimately hurts the progression of our society.

Moneyguy1 11-11-2004 11:19 PM

Fint..to call Lincoln a Republican would be only in name. His aims were far more liberal than the Grand Old Party of today. Things have morphed a lot in a century and a half.

I seem to remember a number of very upset conservatives after the 1992 and 1996 elections. There will always be "sore losers".

What we need are more gracious winners.

Superman 11-12-2004 10:24 AM

Lincoln was a Republican and he was almost certainly the best president we've ever had, and very possibly the best we will ever have. His understanding of the issues was borderline superhuman. But if he were running for office today, the last thing he'd be is a Republican. Not a chance.

Lyndon Johnson was a Republican?

techweenie 11-12-2004 01:39 PM

The 'bunch of celebs who said they'd leave the country' is just another urban legend of the American right.

Look it up on snopes.com

Joeaksa 11-12-2004 02:23 PM

I realize you're joking around, but that is a stance that ultimately hurts the progression of our society.

Its not just a bunch of celebs. They stated that if Gore did now win that they would leave America, now they seem to forget their earlier statements and are happy to rake in the $$$.

Put them on a boat heading somewhere out to sea and get rid of them. Have not watched a movie since that time with any of the whiners anyway.
