New Mustang TV Ad - Steve McQueen!

Seen the new Mustang TV spot? A "Field of Dreams" farmer hears the voice say, "If you build it, he will come." So, he carves a one-lane road course out in his cornfield. Then, he pulls a new Mustang out of the barn and puts it on the "starting line" - when out of the cornrows walks Steve McQueen (from a former movie performance via CGI). Farmer tosses Steve the keys and off he rips in the new Mustang.
Very cool....much like Steve, himself.

Here's the link. It's a shorter version of the original spot, which I believe is a full :60, but you'll get the idea.
I'm seeing the spot about once-a-night now in primetime. Ford usually advertises in the Top Five TV shows.

I saw it yesterday. By far it's one of the coolest car commercials I've seen in a long time. I'm not sure, but that might be the original music from "Bullit."

A few years back, one of the gurus of CGI said there may, in the near future, be feature movies with deceased stars like John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart. The ad in question was on TNT tonight. Sweet.

I met McQueen once when I was working for Barris. He came across as a very friendly soft spoken guy, easy to talk to and not at all "full of himself".

If you walk the walk, the talk speaks for itself.
McQueen is awesome.

The new ones are everywhere here in L.A. I've seen at least ten of them so far. L.A. is used as a testing ground for cars - I guess for smog/environmental reasons. I saw one just about an hour ago with license plates, so I imagine they're currently being sold.

They're cool cars. I'd wait for the Cobra, though, if I was thinking of pulling the trigger on one.

My first impression of the new Stang...was favorable. I liked the classic style guages... but I saw one the other day and it struck me as kind of plain looking. Also it needed to be lowered. Maybe a Cab version would be cooler.

The one that I checked out on the interior was a "press car" that some guy was testing for an auto magazine. Ive heard that they do not handle well in the rain... according to my source at Ford.

I forget, but is this new Mustang still based off the Fairmont chassis? Jeez, I think most of us were in diapers or at least training underwear when the Fairmont came out.

I did my first performance driving class in a Fairmont up at Sears Point.

I was in college, not diapers!
