Congrats to Team Canada....
I know that you have heard this from me before but next to the Stanley Cup finals the World Juniors tourney is one of my favorite sporting events of the year to watch. The emotion of the young men playing this game an the fact that it is shattering when their team loses. The momentum shifts are so pronounced that you are waiting on the edge of your seat for something to happen.
Honestly the refereeing appeared to favor the Canadian squad but I am very pleased that they had pulled this one out of the bag as it was never a sure thing. Team Sweden played an exceptional game and really limited the opportunities for Team Canada. The US team played an excellent game against the Canadians. Very well coached. It was nice to see them rally to win the bronze as sometimes the US team doesn't play well in games where they do not have an opportunity to win the overall. Wow that was kind of a rolling commentary... Real Canadian rye whiskey is a good thing.... ![]() Congrats team Canada!

Thought that this was interesting too.
The captain of team Sweden had thrown his medal into the crowd after receiving it. Poor sportsmanship? I really think that he was so disappointed in the moment that he really didn't want the silver. Not that it matters at all but I can understand his disappointment and as a young man he reacted with a great deal of emotion. I think his children or grandchildren would have liked the opportunity to have that medal. Sweden's captain throws medal into crowd after loss to Canada at world juniors | CBC Sports

Hey Bill
I agree with your assessment regarding the officiating. In the final analysis, it was a damned good exciting game right to the final minutes - a game, thankfully, not decided by a "skills" contest. Might have give "HNIC" a miss tonight as it will most probably prove to be quite anticlimactic after last night. Cheers JB

A school friend of mine her husband is the Team Canada's national men's team equipment manager. They just did an amazing trip starting in Italy and ending at the Juniors.
