The instructor for my critical thinking class just sent this to me. Pretty funny stuff. I only got 2 questions right.

1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2 How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Did you say, "Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?" Wrong Answer.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend... except one ... Which animal does not attend?

Correct Answer: The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory.

Okay even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.

4. There is a river you must cross but it is inhabited by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer: You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the professionals they tested got all questions wrong, but many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this conclusively disproves the theory that most professionals have the brains of a four year old.

but...but... a giraffe, even a baby one, can't fit in a standard refridgerator without being in small pieces, and they didn't say if it was a giant industrial one that could hold both animals or how the door mechanism functioned or even if their were two of them, and the elephant could have let himself out of the fridge and attended the conference while the giraffe got drunk and crashed his ricer into a garage and missed it, and "inhabited by crocodiles" means they live there but the conference could be over and the river could be class 4 rapids and unswimable so you have to use the rocket backpack....and....and...I got 0 correct hahaha.

tell your critical thinking test professor this is all BS....is that the best he could do in the 30+ years of schooling?

If the refrigirator is big enough for a giraffe, might it not also be big enough for a giraffe and an elephant? (speaks to johns point)

Nowhere in the "test" was it stipulated that the previous conditions were still in effect as the next "question" or condition presented itself.

Did you leave out the directions, or is this just a poorly designed test?

Its not a critical thinking examination... its a joke. I remember being told this one years ago.

We agree on a lot of things BT, but not on this one.

Here's an actual test given by Anderson Consulting. I have a friend that applied there and they gave her this critical thinking question:

There are 2 rooms, 1 room has 3 lightbulbs, the other room has 2 switches. Going into each room only 1x, how do you figure which switch controls which lights?

OK, it's getting late and I'll probably fall into the trap: assuming there are no burnt bulbs, go to switch room first turn 1 on 1 off, the go to bulb room and see which ones are on/off.

or maybe room 2 is across the hall in which case you need only enter the switch room.
or use a mirror to see which lights light.
or bring a buddy to yell what's hapening in the lightbulb room.
or lastly since light switches are only 4-6 inches from the door and you don't need to enter a room to see if the light is on you should be able to figure it out without entering either room.
or call the electrician and ask him.

Here is one for you.
The instructor tells his/her class they are having an exam the next day. The instructor says no excuses will be accepted for missing the exam except for serious circumstances like a death in the family or serious illness. Smart ass Jimmy raises his hand and asks if he could be excused in the case he is suffering from sexual exhaustion. The instructor tells Jimmy "No".
How does Jimmy complete the exam while suffering from sexual exhaustion?




Answer: Write his answers with the other hand.
