I am not sure what "big" said, however... irony of his name aside. It's a serious problem in the US, why do think the US is so fat when the other western countries dont seem to have the same issues to a similar extent?

Is it just solely due to one fast food chain though? We have plenty Mc'D's in NZ, as do many other countries... Is it a discipline issue? not enough exercise?

Not enough exercise. I understand that having sex with a sheep is quite a workout! Is that why NZ isn't fat?

I dont think thats the case... when you **** your sheep, maybe you just lay there like a starfish, and thats why you are fat? Or course you understand ****ing your sheep is a work out... maybe you want to put a bit more of an effort in though, you know hard core sheepy style, or missionary??? Maybe you have to lay their like a starfish becuase you will squash the sheep otherwise???

Ah ok, so there is an axcess of food on the plate, and one tries to finish the whole meal? Interesting, the Chinese serve food in the same way however, so maybe a nutrition factor also?

It's a combination.

Portions are too large, but there are many people who don't eat large portions, but still can't lose the weight.

One HUGE reason is the packaged foods that are sold in this country. Ironically, very poor areas in America have a weight problem and it's attributed to the fact that they can't afford the stuff we can and all the cheap packaged foods are LOADED with crap.

Finally, we are such a society of convenience and we don't have to do much in regard to labor anymore. I don't have to get up to change the tv channel, my lawnmower is self-propelling, or hire someone to do it, I have an electric bush trimmer, etc.

If this ever goes anywhere besides 952 being a sheep f*&ker, i'll be amazed.

But i will try. One interesting point that i learned not to long ago is that during about the 1950's the US government paid farmers NOT to grow corn. As for why, i'm not intirely sure, but what fallows might be an indication. With WWII being over, the US government was now on a mission to help feed the war stucken countries. Food was needed BIG time. So, the farmers started stock piling wheet, corn, and the such to ship over to Germany, England, France, etc. I forget the name of the operation, but the US and English airforces droped thousands of tons of food into west berlin after the war, US grown food being one of them.

Once the food rationing slowed, the US had more corn that it knew what to do with. Thus, corn-syrup was substitued into just about everything. From what i understand, its worse than regular sugar because its not as sweet. Old Coca Cola is not like it is today. Even the Coca Cola of mexico is different. The pure sugar in most foods makes it too much, but corn syrup isn't as harsh, so its easier to down a whold 64oz of soda.

As for being fat, thats personal will. Getting out and excersising is not something our country values as much as it should.

And BigD was my name made up in rowing during high school. I then went to Syracuse NY and rowed there for a few semesters. Im 6'2", 225lb. I can bench 220lbs and squat 300lbs. I've always been big, never had to try.

Edit in: And i don't work out on a weekly basis, so 952, it would make perfect sence that while chassing sheep you get stronger, when they buck, you pull harder, thus, being one strong little sheep f*#ker.

LOL I have no weight problem. Unless you consider size 2 to 4 (depending where I shop) a weight problem.

Another thing, I've always been thin. I have a high metabolism though. I always assumed it's genetics (my family is thin as well). But I remember in school, there weren't so many large people like there are today...so...how much is genetics and how much is self-imposed?

Another contributing factor I believe is that some medications make people gain weight. We're such a medicated society anymore, doctors give you pills for everything it seems.

Yes, they do have a higher sodium levels too, but lower heart desease rates (or am i thinking of the Japanesse).

In all of your travels to China, did you notice if those who ate chinesse buffet style were fat? if then were they rich by most standards?

In america, the money doesn't mater. Good food is more expensive because its harder to get. The farmers need to pay the workers a decent wage, the pesticieds that our government probably forces them to use (i have no proof of this, only speculation).

There is never one cause to why an epodemic exists. Its a gradual change and trend in society.

Ironically, more food is cheaper.
There is also an historic reason that has made abundance of food very important in american culture: the poor immigrants who came from Ireland or Italy really had nothing to eat. When they arrived on the new continent, they decided that never again would they suffer from hunger. This is why now they celebrate thanksgiving: thankgiving is the celebration of abundance food, first and foremost.

Its because we eat like sheep, not what you think. We eat what everyone else eats and in massive quantities. I'm 5'10 and 168 pounds. That's what 1.78 meters and 12 stones for you guys?

Dang!! That's my 910th post. I better not waste the 911th like that. I'll have to think of something better to say.

Don 944, have you ever been to Europe? I've seen fat European people there too. Higher tendency here, yes. But what numbers are they using to call fat? I didn't read all of the artical the troll posted, whats the body percentage fat count that puts you into fat teritory?

I'm pretty sure anyone could get fat on cheese, bread, and wine.
