I have used gunbroker.com to buy a couple guns in the past (one a springfield 1911), it goes pretty smoothly. I had a local pawn shop with an FFL do the paperwork for me, i think they charged by 15 bucks to do so. Basically you go in, tell them you have a gun coming, fill out the paper work, the seller will send the gun to the pawn shop (that was in my case, anyone with a FFL will work), then you can pick it up from them and pay their paper work fee. Suprisingly easy. Should be pretty simple when you are the guy doing the selling as well, just reversed.

who built it? Yes, that can actually matter. WV is Novak territory isnt it?

Its perfectly legal for you to ship the gun as an individual to an FFL in a state where its legal to own. Its common courtosy to talk to the shop ahead of time and let them know that it will be coming from an individual. Dont be surprised if they ask for a copy of your drivers license. Ship the gun 2nd day, insure it for the full value, declare it as 'sporting goods' or 'machinable steel', and dont write the word 'gun' anywhere on the box.

Always make sure the FFL is valid before you send anything to them. You can use the ATF EZ check website to verify an FFL as long as you have the first 3 and last 5 digits of the license. gunbroker will also let you look them up by name and zip, IIRC.

Wow, thats alot of hassle just to sell a gun.

Here in Idaho you just advertise it in the local paper or Thrifty nickel, somebody buys it and *poof* its sold!!!...:D

Yup, and along with it still comes the liability of possibly selling a gun to a minor, a convicted felon, etc, of which the seller would be held liable. Make sure you do it through an FFL dealer to protect yourself.

Yes, Novak has done alot of work to this one but not all of it. that is why it cost me so much to have it done. I think it was 300 bucks to have the front strap checkered. The bar sto barrel was close to 400 then you have to buy the link and bushing seperate then pay to have it all fitted. Look at Novak's webapge. He lives in the same town as I do. He does do beautiful work.

I know Novaks work. If you have any documentation on it or if it has the Novak makers mark on it, I suspect it could sell for a little more than 800 bones. FWIW, I just sold a Novak Commander with no receipts for $1k. It sucks to take a loss on stuff like this, but thats how it goes sometimes. good luck
