Funny how people have to post a disclaimer before agreeing with anything I've said.

I agree NZ is/was out of hand on both boards and hung himself from his own doing. Not disputing that. However NZ is no different than Mul. Mule got banned from rennlist and came over here to speil hate. The only reason Mule was banned is for shallow remarks about somebodes loved one. Otherwise he would still be over there slamming libs in a free for all.

The mod here and on most boards tilt to the right. They 95% of the time don't censor speech or poster they agree with politically. But over time you start to watch the number of libs banned versus the neocons and you see a clear pattern of biased.

Good mods should have transparent politics so you don't know where they stand on either side of the fence.

As for not calling people neocons. Well neocons themself call themself neocons and they are in power. If I had beer for every time I got called a pinko, a lib, a terrorist sympathizer, told to move out of the country, or the BB by Jesus freaks, or neocons I could get the 59,054,087 stupid people drunk. The hard liners on the right love to label, defame, and destroy the opponent.

Call them one label back and they ***** and scream like a kitten.

There is a simple reason why this occurs. Erring on the conservative side is less offensive than erring on the not-so-conservative side. Allow me to explain from a religious perspective:

If you've got an 'interdenominational' church organization where folks from different church affiliations interact, it is best to abide by the most conservative group. To OVER-simplify: if one group feels strongly that men should not wear hats inside, while another group could care less, then by adopting the rule of not wearing hats inside is the best bet. That way, the more conservative group won't be offended, and the less conservative group, while not quite understanding the rules, wouldn't be offended either.

Same method of thinking can be applied here in regards to many aspect. Politics is NOT one of those instances where this can be easily applied, BTW. (And I've done my best NOT to apply that here) But a good example of this thinking can be seen in how the Grid Girls thread has been dealt with - accept a more conservative stance on what pictures can be posted and go by that.

That said...

As one of them right-wing neocons, I have to say that I've spent more time giving out warnings and editing folks that are right wing than those on the other side of the fence. (And let's not get into whether or not I should be allowed to voice my political opinions as a mod here!!) Please do not confuse the times I've posted my opinions as a user vs. the times I've had to put on my moderator hat and had to step in and say something. I believe you are confusing the two.

Z-man is a very moderate moderator. Three cheers for Z-man!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif
Hopefully I have and will continue to moderate these forums with a level head.

Now, regarding why it took longer to ban Mullholland than 952, here's a bit of insight: I do this on a volunteer basis, and despite what some may think, I don't spend every waking moment sitting on Pelican's OT board hitting the refresh button! Perhaps it looks like I was a bit more tolerant with Mullholland - but it simply took a bit more for him to appear on my radar: it's all about timing. Perhaps I've also learned to recognize a troll sooner, and take action sooner as well. Live and learn.

Z I'd say probably atleast 1/2 neocon, haven't read enuff of your stuff to determine the level of Jesus in ya to determine logical retardation. You don't seem in total disconnection with reality (yet) so that usually means you aren't full blown JC freak.
Thanks for the props, red ufo. (I think!?) Just so you know - as a "Bible readin' Church goin' born again" Christian, I consider myself a 'full blown JC freak.' Glad to hear you feel I'm not disconnected from reality. SmileWavy

Regards & sorry for rambling,
-Z-man.

TROLL!!!!!!
LynnsABCs isn't a troll. Maybe a brown-noser with that last comment, but certainly not a troll...

Unless you mean that I'm a troll!

Happy Turkey day!

I didn't see any of 952's offensive posts, but I've been trying to keep myself away from the OT board lately. I thought he made some worthy contributions to the Bush vs. Hitler thread, and I thought he did a good job voicing his opinions in the face of opposition.

That doesn't mean he wasn't over the line, if Z-man thought he should go, he probably should, Z-man does a good job. In what (apparently) little I saw of 952, I found him to be within guidelines and important to the arguments.

BigD9146gt 11-24-2004 02:41 PM

I will agree klaucke, in the beginning it appeared to be that way. i'm not by any means smart when it comes to debates, but i like to listen in and ask questions to. I showed 952 plenty of respect with regards to his views, but by the time he had gotten into it with others (and others get a rise out of him too), he was only interested in spouting off about himself and the only topics he carried on were hate topics. Even topics that were trying to show some good in a horrible situation were tarnished by 952's obvious hatered for the US.

He can hate us all he wants, thats his deal. Lord knows i hate lots of things about the US. Its just he had no respect for others, it was all about getting people pissed off. If the majority of a thread tells me that they hate me, i'm going to leave. I have no reason to stay, i've worn my welcome so to speak.

Somewhere, there is a doctoral candidate toiling away on a thesis, entitled "A Sociological Study of the Pelican Parts Cultural Microcosm: Polarization, Flagellation, Introspection, Dejection, Imperfection, Erection, Predilection, and Rejection."
