Barrett .50 Cal. Dang!!!

Hells Yeah. If I could figure out how to post the video of me firing this thing, I would. What a great way to blow three bucks a shot! Less recoil than a 12 gauge, and I can reach out and touch someone a mile away. Seriously, you get the fifty caliber giggles after you shoot one of these.

I love ballistics. So I'd rather buy an Accuracy International AW .338 Lapua Magnum. But nothing beats this weapon for coolness, and other guys on the range, stunned out of their mind by the sound, asking "who's got the anti-tank weapon?"

50th power

JP

Richard -
Think of it like a very expensive game of darts. I never wanna hafta shoot someone ... though there are people that "need killin'".

This is one of the most powerful, accurate ballistic machines ever made. That's just plain cool. And I'm glad these weapons are on our side than the *****bags'.

Just wait til you get your hands on the M87 ELR model. What a blast that gun is.

Ive only used it in PC games, but the kickback is somewhat higher than an m82...looking through the sight it would kick back and the target would go out of view, but if your bullet was dead on, you didnt need to line back up for another shot. One bullet through the torso would tear you in half.

But then again its only a game..but games these days have a way of being frighteningly realistic.

For something with some real "power", try one of these on for size...

DESCRIPTION: The MK-19 Grenade Launcher is a fully automatic weapon that fires 40mm grenades.

FEATURES:
The MK19-3 can be mounted on a tripod or a vehicle swivel point. The weapon delivers accurate, intense, decisive firepower against personnel and lightly armored vehicles by shooting a variety of 40mm grenades. Because of its weight, it is crew transportable only over short distances with limited amounts of ammunition. The MK19-3 shoots a 40mm grenade, which can kill in a 32-foot (5-meter) circle and wound in a 100-foot (30-meter) circle (48 feet). The grenade can penetrate two inches of armor.

No doubt, the blast wave is impressive. There's a one-stall enclosed space at the range (3 walls are enclosed, with windows -- the wall facing downrange is open, obviously). The friend who owns the M82 said "no way; we'd blow out the windows" when his bro suggested shooting from in there. I laughed. Until I stood "next to" the gun (though out from under the roof!) when it was fired. The concussion blew the door to that small enclosed room open from 10' away. It woulda blown out the windows.

I'd love to fire a MK-19, but I doubt it'd be cooler than the M82A1 experience.

True about the finger, but I did ensure it wasn't loaded, and it was pointed down a "live" range (ie nobody out there changing targets, etc.)
The idea of an intentional hipshot is amusing -- this thing is freaking heavy, and all the accuracy designed in to weapon would be useless "from the hip."

i shot one like noah pictured. this was a few years ago. i was at a military rifle range sighting a deer rifle. i kept hearing this huge boom and i went to investigate. i found a bunch of army dude shooting that .50 cannon. they said the magic words, "you want to try it?" they had me put on a flack jacket to protect my shoulders, and the rifle was nestled in a pile of sandbags. was a trip. we were shooting at these metal plates in the horizon. my .257 weatherby was a tool afterwards. great photos guys.
