My dad's ok.

Some of you know that my dad suffered a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest last Saturday. I've been down in FL for the week to be with my mom and give my dad all the encouragement he needs.

On Sunday, the doctors installed three stints into the arteries that feed oxygen to the heart. While that operation was a success it was determined that something had to be done about my dad's arythmea (irregualr heartbeat) An ICD (pacemaker) would be the best soluation.

As of 9pm tonight, he is out of immediate danger. They installed an ICD (Internal Current Defibulator) that acts as a pace maker and will actually shock his heart if it beat irregularly, and will prevent future VT's and cardiac arrests.

This is the short version of the difficult week I've had - going to the hospital, seeing my dad in such a weakened condition earlier this week was a hard pill for me to swallow. But it was a great joy to see him return to himself - this morning you could really see that he was recovering very well.

You will be glad to know that the only two decorations that my dad wanted to keep in his hospital room were a calendar (with a pretty winter scene) and a 1-43rd scale model of my 944. Like father like son!

Thank you for the emails and kind words you folks sent my way - I really appreciate it, and so does my family.

Regards,
-Zoltan.

thats really good to hear.

Cancer took my uncle last december 18th. He was treated early in 2003, and the doctors said it had disappeared. Well it came back in early november and it was bad...they gave him 6 weeks to live. He went from over 6 feet tall, big burly dude that would crush my hand if I shaked it, to a frail little guy with a hollow, depressed face, that could barely hold my hand. I never thought cancer could do such a thing to someone. I thank the Lord that your dad is out of the woods and is still around to enjoy your company.

I bet he would get better even faster if he had a model of a REAL Porsche! Most excellent news Z-man!

Good to hear Z....Hug him, kiss him and tell him you love him everytime you see him. The illness and loss of my mom profoundly affected me....

I wish him the best.

Z,

Glad to hear that its going well. A very good friend of mine has the unit implanted in her that your Father will get. Its triggered a couple of times and saved her life. As well, my ex-wife does the type of surgery he is having and been through that a lot. Good to have family with him as its a big help for him.
