How about satin black for the frame?

Very nice! I vote for the wirebrush and clear powder.

I want to do that to my beat-up old Marin bike. How did you strip the frame? Mechanical or chemical?

HEAT GUN!!!! it sucked, that and a wire brush and a spackle knife. If I did it again I would find a place that did acid dipping.

Satin black is an option, I am going to repaint my forks so they can turn into whatever color I wish. I think I will get the cranks powdercoated since the anodize is long gone from being red.

FYI the seat and post are black, stem, handlebars and grips are black, brake levers are black with alu levers, shifter pod is silver.

Clear powdercoat would be cool! The wire brush might be hard to get a good replicatable (word?) pattern on the metal. A scotch-brite pad might get more consistent results?

you did it with all the components in place?

i vote, wire brush and clear powder....let chip foose, paint it.

that should be a fun bike when finished. one of our own here builds custom bikes and has recently opened up a powdercoating facility. his name is jay sycip or www.sycip.com.
i "rebuilt" my specialized m2 for the wife and had it powdercoated a flat black with no decals. an all black bike looks damn cool. remember the gt black zaskar x?
i also have a gt xizang ti full xtr, crossmax, marz, thomson bike that i built up. that is a wicked XC bike. love the ti frame compared to my old alum zaskar. i need to start riding again.

I'm building up a fixed gear bike (old skool), and I think I'm gonna go for Porsche's Sepia Brown (the baby poo colour).
