I'm in the permit process now, but will start in a few months. I don't know how much I'm allowed to post online because the office is actually a working franchisee store. Corporate types get pissy when you use their name and logo. But it is also my shop. And my office where I'll spend probably 80+ hrs a week.

I think this will go nicely in the upstairs office, which is designed like a living space with a shower etc.

OK, reviving old thread again.

Anyone ever scan or gain access to more of the Targa "blown Away" posters?

LesPaulFan 07-11-2018 03:57 AM

I have this poster if anyone is interested.

LesPaulFan 07-12-2018 06:12 AM

I just put my Maxell tape blown away targa poster in the parts for sale section. Check it out if you're looking for one. Thanks

blz 09-12-2018 12:00 PM

Hi,
some years ago, I tried to find someone in this thread who has the Targa Poster (with the Weaver Gallery print) and would do a high resolution scan.
Although two or three people answered, it came to nothing.
I have observed Ebay but I haven't found a affordable copy since. I don't care if it's an original, I just would like to have the beautiful print next to my blown away poster.
Is there anyone out there who would help me out? I'd also pay - if neccessary :)
Cheers

Gus Berges 09-13-2018 08:13 AM

If anyone has a digital version of the posters, I'd love to have a copy of the file so I could print it locally. International shipping fees complicate posters that are already framed or glued to some board.

Thank you, kind Sir!

That would be the meeting room. My office is even more lived-in. 😐

Having both versions of the Maxell Targa poster - one of them mounted to foam board - I have no idea how to do a hi res scan for anyone. Suggestions?

BTW - super nice office Rusnak. Are you in Pasadena? What kind of work do you do? FWIW I only wish I was cool enough for that office!!!

greglepore 01-14-2019 03:00 PM

I'd love to have one of these. However, its probably not the best idea to discuss copyright piracy in a public forum.

Staples. Office/copy section. Only a couple of bucks. I've scanned quite a few house and site plans there, they will either email to you or put it on your flash drive.

porsche4life 01-14-2019 06:05 PM

If it were only that easy.... my copy of the maxxell poster is bigger than any staples in town can scan. I’ve yet to find anywhere here with a scanner big enough

A930Rocket 01-14-2019 06:11 PM

^^^^ what about a place that copies/prints blueprints?

You might try an architectural office as well.

serene911 01-14-2019 07:44 PM

Google 80's Maxell Poster. The Pelican threads on this subject show up on the
first page.

Ditto. And one of mine (the gallery copy) is matted.

And FWIW, I was not looking to violate any copyrights. In fact, I don't know when to be concerned about that or not. So I appreciate the warning - and if anyone can help with the method and/or the law, lemme know!

daepp 08-01-2019 09:54 AM

No affiliation - just stumbled across this:

Any commercial shop will likely refuse to copy it. It is for sure a copyrighted piece. The commercial shop can be fined $200,000 per image that they copy. Unless you find an employee that was not trained, it is unlikely they will do it.

The old rule of thumb, if it was created, it is copyrighted. Our shop would have never scanned it for you. I bet in the bottom corner there is a clear copyright statement right on the poster.

I understand you want a copy and not to sell it. To keep it 100% legal, buy the poster from a legitimate source.

pmax 08-01-2019 07:17 PM

Good thing no one here ever dubbed a tape of their favorites, let alone a Maxell !

The difference is the professional shop making a copy of a copyrighted piece. They are making money off of that service. We had people come in all the time with a Olan Mills portrait and we would refuse. We knew of a company that had a sweet little old grandma type go into a place for a copy of the Olan Mills portrait, and as she walked out with the copy, a lawyer walked in, and handed the company a lawsuit, that they lost. That copy cost them 200 grand. The simple way, call Olan Mills, tell them the truth that the portrait is several years old. They don't have the negatives, so they send a copyright release. We are happy, and the customer is happy.

Copying music or a CD is for friends is almost impossible to go after since there is usually no profit, and it is hard to prove where it was done.

I have no skin in the game here. I am just suggesting any shop that sees the poster will refuse it. Maybe your luck will be different.

911 Rod 08-02-2019 08:18 AM

I own a copy shop and would have no problem scanning or copying anything.
I would ask if this was for personal use though.

Laws are different in CA though. ;)

There are a number for sale right now at under 200 USD.

Seems fair to me.

SecondMoonshot 01-22-2025 12:30 PM

I frame and sell these. I have 2 of the Weaver Gallery Porsche Blown Away, 1 Weaver Gallery Man in Chair Blown Away and 1 Maxell Mail-away Poster. Very nicely framed.

I usually just post them for sale on SecondMoonshot.com and on eBay. I do the Weaver Gallery ones and also frame the 2 page ads which is very popular entry point. Value on these are moving nicely up.

Had a set of JBL L100’s. Lots of albums were mixed using the professional version. And yes, turn them up with my Yamaha C6/M4 Time Window set up and Zep, Who, Little Feat, Spooky Tooth all sounded great. Each time we cranked them felt just like the poster

SecondMoonshot 06-01-2025 08:21 AM

Just did this set for a Porsche owner in Marietta GA…these are original posters.

I'll never understand the huge interest in these posters. Who uses Maxell tapes anymore?

I cringe when I see that top flying off knowing that it'll cost $16K at least to replace it.
