Filming a movie in my home town

They're filming a movie in my town right now. Something about Huey Long starring Jude Law, Meryl Streep, Sean Penn, etc.. They have transformed Front St near the tracks to portray a town from the 30's-40's. Kinda cool with the old storefronts, cars and other stuff. Lots of period correct cars running around today. We don't see much of this stuff too often around here. The first Tarzan movie was shot here, one movie about oil drilling with Jimmy Stewart, Easy Rider has many scenes, and another movie with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson after atomic bombs were dropped or something from a few years back. kind of cool I guess. We dropped some menus off, so maybe we'll see some of the people here in our wine shop/cafe. This a very small town, so there's not many places to go.

I heard Spud on WWL talking about this movie the other day.

We have the Dukes Of Hazzard being filmed in my hometown of Clinton, La. Using a lot of locals and a number of the guys that campaign vintage V-8's at the road course are using their cars in the movie. Filming for the final race scene will be in January. Lots of activity for a small town. The last movie they fimed here was "Blaze". I will say, that they movie comapny has not been stingy with spending money in the town. It is sad that they have destroyed 25 cars since the filming. In a particular jump scene 3 cars made the jump, 2 were destroyed and one made it. Such a waste!

I work in film. Be aware that they work long hours, a normal day is 6AM to 8-9 PM. Typically they work six days/week. Often with Mondays as the day off, so they can get extras, better road closure permits, etc. Crew usually get breakfast and lunch fed to them. After 12 hours they usually get a dinner as well. If you can deliver to the set, tell them. Find the production office and ask to speak to the Production Coordinator.

I have had my 911 used in a movie. Your right about long hours. Dawn to dusk. Take after take after take. It changed the way I view movies. The pay was good for the car plus they paid me to drive it plus wardrobe gave me the best free haircut I have ever had. Pretty cool to have your car get a paycheck.
