Riverside Sheriff's group urges boycott of Mexican products
RIVERSIDE, Calif. The Riverside, County, California, Sheriffs' Association has joined law enforcement agencies in urging a boycott of Mexican products, services and vacations.
The boycott is an effort to pressure Mexico into extraditing fugitives wanted for murder in the United States. The association president says residents in Mexico don't want the suspected killers in their neighborhoods. The boycott movement began after the April 2002 killing of a Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy while he was on patrol in the town of Irwindale. The suspect fled to Mexico. Mexico refuses to extradite suspects facing the death penalty or life in prison without parole. |

WTF? Mexico has bigger problems to worry about than protecting criminals who might be executed. Where's that bounty hunter when we need him?

* In Los Angeles alone, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total approximately 1,200-1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (approximately 17,000) are for illegal aliens.

Bedford continues plans to sell hospital; seeks help on influx of illegal immigrants
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=13584860&BRD=1614&PAG=461&dept_id=161052&rfi=6
BEDFORD COUNTY-The road to private operation of the Bedford County Medical Center continued Tuesday evening as the Bedford County Commission voted in favor of drafting a request for proposals from prospective buyers or leaseholders. With only two dissenting votes, the commission voted to have County Attorney John T. Bobo develop the request. Bobo indicated that preparation of the request should take no more than 30 days. At the close of the meeting, with rules suspended, the commissioners also voted to have the county attorney draft a letter to U.S. Senators Bill Frist and Lamar Alexander and to U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon voicing concern over the rising problem of illegal immigrants in Bedford County. The main concern, according to commissioner J.D. Wilson, is that immigration laws either need to be enforced by state and federal agencies or government funds need to be provided to help the county's infrastructure bear the weight of illegal aliens in the area. On the approval of County Mayor Jimmy Woodson's appointments for positions set to expire at the end of the year all were approved unanimously with the exception of Frank Butler. To be on the Bedford County Planning Commission, one must also be a member of the Bedford County Board of Commissioners. While Butler was previously a commissioner, his current status prevents him for serving another term. Woodson explained that since no active commissioner had expressed an interest, he had simply appointed Butler again. After a vote of 11-6 with one commissioner abstaining, Butler's appointment was rejected. Woodson now must return to the next commissioner's meeting with a different nominee. Whit Lee and Marty Davis were both approved to continue in their positions on the county zoning board of appeals and county planning commission, respectively. |
