The Truth About Las Vegas

When people come to Las Vegas to visit, what they see is a carnivel full of glitz and glamour. Bells ringing, lights flashing mixed with the allure of sex and money....tempting the senses with Booze, Entertainment, Food and lest we not forget Gambling....

Th true Las Vegas is something all together different...it is not much different than any other factory town, mundane. Instead of making a product , Las Vegas makes money on it's visitiors. When I go down to the Strip I notice the waitresses, the security, the dealers, the janitors and house keeping people...all working behindd the Glitz.

Las Vegas in reality is a Dirt Bagger town, the last stop on the road to he11 for every con man, hustler, pimp and loser in America. The State and Local Governments are populated with more of the same types of corrupt indivduals. On the other side of the coin the Security Apparatus in this town are a hard boiled bunch intent on preserving their advantage over all the losers who try and ply their trade at the expense of the Casinos. . The gaming laws of the state are all written to favor the house, and the State Supreame Court upholds them. In this town when it comes to gaming the police don't even need evidence of a crime to arrest and prosecute you.... So folks the next time you come to Vegas just consider yourself to be the cash cow that is here to be milked for everything your worth. Come again soon ya hear...

beat down, psychic damage coats everything in LV like a yellow film of nicotine. I don't know how people miss it, you can almost taste it in the air.

GettinHeadStuds 12-22-2004 11:32 AM

I love Vegas.

Been to Vegas once for Comdex and had a pretty good time....and I'm not a gambler, in fact I've never been to Atlantic City.

I guess you have to watch cops to get a better picture.

widebody911 12-22-2004 11:40 AM

I've been to Vegas twice, once was I was a kid (maybe 10 or so) and once about 15 years or so ago. In the daytime, away from the strip, it's a depressing place.

I'm too much of a cynic for casino gambling. All those pretty blinking lights, all the 'comps' and glitz is paid for by someone - and that's the suckers who flock there thinking they're going to get rich off the gambling.

It always amazes me that folks (some close to me) are still drawn to LV. How many visitors to LV can prove that they have a +net.

Completely agree. We're not the gaming sort but did vacation in LV this year (with kids) for 3 days of Mandalay Bay pools and strip attractions. After a more recent trip to a J.W. resort in Phoenix we have no intentions of revisiting LV.

Nevada is the fastest growing state for the past 18 years running, it attracts 7 people an hour to live here...It also has a 3.6% unemployment rate....

There are several very nice areas to live in the LV area...Summerlin a Hughs master Planned Community and Anthem a Del Webb communtity.....I live up in the NW which is in a completely different world than that of the strip and it's environ...but the problem is LV is an island in the desert and there just isn't anyplace else to go...

LV has been a good place for retirees to live...due to it's low tax rate, good (winter) weather, amenities (golf, food, entertainment) and low cost of housing (it ain't that way anymore).

So it ain't all BAD...(trying to be fair here) but it is a hard scrabble town anyway you wana look at it...

Ohhhh BTW: Gossip has it that Celine Dion is performing at Caesars Palace because her Hubby owes them $25,000,000.00 in gambling debts....Ahhh soooo..thats why she decided to leave Montreal and move to the desert...

911S Targa 12-22-2004 01:55 PM

This place is better then some places.

I thought LV was the place where they do all sorts of cool tests and put pieces together to solve murders. Love the POV cams they use to show how a bullet rips through flesh...

Oh wait, that's just CSI - the TV show....

Man vegas is fun - if you're not having fun there you're not doing it right.

Hugh R 12-22-2004 02:11 PM

CSI is actually shot north of Los Angeles in Valencia.

I spent a month in LV once as an expert witness and one night I got kind of liquored up and wasted a whole roll of nickels on a slot machine ($2 !!), boy did I feel bad the next day. Don't care if people gamble, but I know they didn't get those huge casinos by givin it away.

kang 12-22-2004 04:23 PM

They didn't build Vegas on charitable donations, that's for sure.

GettinHeadStuds 12-22-2004 04:50 PM

If you're forced to buy drinks, never order mixed drinks, always order beers... They can't water down a beer.

KNS 12-22-2004 06:24 PM

Isn't Vegas supposed to run out of water in the coming decade? I read (in the Arizona Republic) that Lake Powell is so low that as early as 2006 there may not be enough water to run the hydro-electric tubines at Glen Canyon Dam. Yikes.

My old Uncle Litvak said right before they swung the trap on him..."You can't cheat an honest man, give a sucker an even break or smarten up a chump"

It's supposed to be fun, until you get home and sober up...then you just wana put your head in the oven ....

Ohhh ***** this town was built on the Slot Machine...they don't call them one armed bandits for nothin....

So long as you play the games as intended the Casinos love your action....that means they win....but if you should ever be a card counter at 21 and they catch you they decline your action...as they take yur picture and show you the door...thye used to arrest you, but the State Supream Court said it's legal to count cards. Never ever think that you have rights when your in a Casino.....
