Source for Sony Projector Bulb?
Any leads, I need to get a PKPJ500 LCD projector bulb for a VPL-W400Q. No luck (at a reasonable price yet).

Call Audio Visions South in Tampa. They are a very large high end AV company and they have vast resources. |
Bill,
Is that on Henderson Blvd? |
Why Do LCD Bulbs Cost So Much?
This is the most common question our customers ask us - particularly if they've never shopped for replacement LCD bulbs before. Many first-time LCD replacement bulb shoppers understandably feel "sticker shock" when they start shopping around for LCD replacement bulbs. So, we thought we'd give you some insight as to why the products are priced the way they are. First, these LCD bulbs and LCD projectors utilize sophisticated optics technologies that allow images to be very precisely projected with a specific brightness, color mix, and clarity that is far superior to earlier-generation projection equipment. Second, the light bulb is assembled into a cage and is calibrated for consistent performance. Since the light bulb in a "cage" is a new generation of light bulb, it is accompanied by some "depreciated development costs", like most new products. The cost of this technology is relatively expensive. The good news, however, is that LCD bulbs are extremely efficient and have a long life compared to other types of projection bulbs - they usually last up to 2,000 hours! Although LCD bulbs are rather costly, we try to assure that Topbulb's replacement LCD bulbs are competitively priced. We are in the business of making our customers happy. Therefore, if you have a specific pricing question or need a better price, particularly on volume orders, please call us at 1-800-TOP-BULB. |
nice commercial. you should be in advertising ;)

Mike, I know they are expensive but the prices vary so much between vendors its not funny. ie. quotes i"ve gotten:
-$850 -700 -450 when MSRP is $400... Do you have this bulb available? qljuanlopez@aol.com |
Well I found a bulb at their website but it was 550.

Hey Mike, Thanks for the info :)

Yes its on Henderson.

Mike, "You da Man" . They have it in stock ! ! ! !
Long weekend ahead and projector had to go out last night... I should say, first bulb replacement in 7 years. |
No problem, I didn't have anything to do this morning anyway. If you dont mind me asking how much did it come out to?
|
Still waiting for price confirmation..... I think it will be approx $400.
|
Thats why I will be building a homeade projector. Better quality than mid-level existing units and $50 bulbs and the total thing will run less than $500 ..
I'll find a link for you. There are 2 downsides to the projectors. Initial price and the cost of the bulbs. It is like having something that you can't play with cuz you don't want to burn out the bulb. (edit) here's the link http://www.lumenlab.com/ |
Try Dennis at Medical Video Systems. I bought my W400Q from him.
$395 http://www.medicalvideosystems.com/Pricing/Sony-Price.htm What kind of screen are you using with the W400Q? I've been using the Draper M2500 102" 16:9. I wish I could get one of the new Sony (DNP) black screens http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/better-picture-of-sonys-black-backed-projection-screen-016964.php , but they are not selling them yet. It's a pain to have to turn off all the lights to watch TV or a movie. I hope to get a better screen or maybe build a rear projection setup when I get the house situation taken care of. Rob |
Rob, I'm one of the original owners of a w400q. I really like it and switched it for a Rundo DLP when I could $$$. i found myself going back to it since the Runco didn't last that long...
I have over 3000 hours on my bulb and it is starting to go (shutting off and the "lamp" indicator is lighting up). Filter is clean and manual says its time to change the lamp. For screeen I use a Vutec 120" with medium gain on a dedicated room. The Runco is running with a Stewart 80" in my bedroom. Gets very limited hours there. I must look at that Sony screen. What's the scoop? Oh yeah, I couldn't get the bulb form the other place. I'll check with Medical. thanks for the info. |
