So far they still get welfare. It only cuts off 4 programs that most people never heard of. The gov shafted us. What about welfare, food stamps?
wah wah. The illegals are pissed they could apply for something under a phony name and get turned over to the feds for committing fraud. wah. Only legal US people were to supposed to worry about that. wah I hope this is just the begining. |

I agree with Red! It is not enough...but we have to start somewhere. Personally I am celebrating. A small victory is still a victory.

You have to live here to appreciate the depth of anger; not at the individual trying to better him or herself, but the lack of action at the federal level to stem the tide. I still do not understand how an individual who enters a country illegaly should be granted things like a drivers license. If an individual is here as a guest worker, there is no problem. The government of Mexico should start asking itself why so many of its citizens want to leave. There is so much corruption in Mexico that it makes our government look clean and noble in comparison.
Whether right or wrong, the people in AZ have had just about enough of the current federal atitude about immigration and the lack of control.

Maldef appeal Arizona restrictions on illegals
The initiative, known as Proposition 200, passed Nov. 2 with 56 percent of the vote. It requires state and local government employees to verify the immigration status of those seeking public benefits and to report to federal immigration authorities any applicant who is in violation of U.S. immigration law. It also subjects the employees to criminal charges if they fail to report illegals.
In seeking a retraining order, MALDEF said Proposition 200 would "cut off all state services, including education, medical care and police and fire services, to all individuals who are unable to immediately provide adequate proof of their U.S. citizenship or residence." http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20041226-114901-9748r.htm |

The thing is that these people are here working and not paying a penny taxes on their income. They then want to use the entire support structure that we provide for all people in our country, without their having paid anything to support it.
I have lived and worked in Mexico and things are tough there. That said, things at the lowest level are so much better here that people from all over the world flock to America. We need to get a hand on the borders and secure the immigration. The sooner the better... Joe A

Look at how Mexico treats illegal immigrants on their southern border. No rights, no welfare, immediate deportation, but they expect the exact opposite for their people going over our border.

I hate to be harsh...but the USA better do something to stem the tide of immigration into the USA...this tide is caused by over population. Sooner or later the USA will be overun with illegals and the standard of living for Everybody from Bill Gates on down to Pedro selling Oranges on the corner will be effected.
Unfortuantely our Liberal do gooder friends can't see the forest for the trees, and by the time they realize there is a problem it will be too late...much like looking for a lifeboat on the Titanic after the last one has been launched.... Sorry people but our standard of living is going to deterioate in the coming years...

Having worked in programs that dealt with the wefare population in the past, I could go on an on - but I won't. What I will say is there were two things that really pissed me off about welfare recipients in general and illegals in particular. The first was their attitude that they were entitled to all of those services provided by the taxation of hard working people. The second thing that pissed me off was when I would hear them refer to their cash aid as their "paycheck."
