OT - Make a claim against Microsoft

I was reading in the paper today that Jan 8th is the deadline to file a claim for some class action settlement for California residents.

Apparently you can get up to $100 without any receipts or documentation; out of 14 million eligible, only 700,000 have applied so far.

To file, go to:

www.microsoftcalsettlement.com

You'll get a voucher for reimbursement against the purchase of a computer or software...

whaaaaat! stop it; you're devaluing the price of my stock! How am supposed to afford that new K12S like THIS?
Dump Microsoft and just go with Red Hat Linux
(insert sound of hysterical laughter in the background now)
Say, can you tell me what volume and slice I should boot to with this line-ex thingie (isn't that a bedliner for a pickup?); 'what does boot pci@1,1/pci@1/dev/rdisk/var/ mean, JonyRR'
'It means you're in a world of hurt'...'take some thorazine and call me next week'
and you DO realize I'm just funnin' ya, right?
I AM about 10 miles as the crow flies from redmond, and still have some MS stock, so quit filin' those claims, dammit!!!

Steve Carlton 12-29-2004 03:31 PM

The article said MS only gets back 1/3 of the unclaimed judgement. The rest goes to CA schools...

Your stock's already discounted for this settlement! Go earn some money...

Like all these things, the lawyers will be the ones that really win. We'll all pay for the settlements (plus the lawyers' 50% overhead), one way or the other. It's a zero-sum game folks.

Not that there's anything wrong with making a quick buck off the situation now.

So, you'll buy the TwinMax for me?

JonyRR 12-30-2004 09:01 AM

I made my own 'carb-stix' type manometer for a twin that's easily as accurate as a twinmax for about $3.00 US...the plans are around here somewhere....
