Pelican business model

Any good writers out there? Can anyone eloquently and succinctly put the Pelican business model into words: build a community around a passion, foster it, make it a place where people hang out much like the corner bar, they develop an affinity and buy stuff when they need.

And part of the secret is giving people the means to talk about the stuff they just bought, show it off, making other people want to buy it.

Can anyone articulate this well? bTW, no I'm not copying Pelican, trying to get the G9Girl business plan in shape, due Wednesday, and the words are just not coming.

Thanks

Shaun:

Here's a short crack:

G9 Girl strives to create a viable and self-supporting online business through the expansion of community. In addition to providing our core business of efficient online retailing of clothing and accessories, we are dedicated to creating an online G9 Girl community: an environment where customers can talk about G9 Girl products, topics of related interest, and share personal experiences. This model expands personal participation in and self-expression around the core brand and creates additional opportunities for referral marketing, traditionally one of the strongest and most efficient methods of sales creation.

JCM

EDIT: This needs serious fleshing out, but I'm about to head into a meeting, so I'll drop it here.

Hey Jason, thanks. my problem is that our business model is too inclusive, does too much, it's hard to articulate how the culture of accomplishment works with the direct sales model works with mentoring (both mom and each other) and how this all integrates with the paintings, the G9Girls as characters, their charms and then closes the loop with the concept that all girls have a genius within them, and the whole marketing plan is built around developing this idea, nurturing our audience.

BTW, now that the Holidays are over, I'll have Babs give you a call about Orange County boutiques, etc.

thanks again!

Shaun

have you tried googling this? there are people out there that blog on topics like economic models relating to community, business in the network age, etc. I talked with an economist this morning about how they are working on an alternative GPL license that would allow a merging of commercial and open source capabilities.

Your business plan may have to be in sections. Part One, Part Two, etc. I might consider taking a fictional girl, and have her grow up using various G9 products according to her age. Maybe she starts with baby clothes, then "missy," then adolescent, enjoying along the way, G9 jewelry, paintings and art, and other girl-oriented accoutremont, (housewares, bath items, bedding).

I'm not well-versed with the girls' clothes and accessories industry, and all its definitions, but I know plenty who are if you need help.

What products will you offer?

Now that's a cool idea. I've written "standard" business plans for magazines, but this is definitely more complex.

Products: we have started with typical apparel and purses, go here: http://www.g9girl.com/boutique.html

Here's an example of the home parties (click on the pic, the girls had a phenomenal time and even created their own G9Girl theme song): http://www.g9girl.com/gallery/

Brand extenstions include: journals and other stationary, "dummies" style books, i.e. G9Girl on..., perfume and cosmetics, bed & bath accessories, cookbooks, etc.

My email is shaun@g9girl.com, if you have friends in the industry, we do need help!

Thanks

Shaun
