Money no object - which watch
 

With all the watch threads recently I thought it might be fun to day dream about what watch we would like - money no object.
My choice would be a 1940s (I think) gold Mickey Mouse Rolex oyster I saw a dealer had - It was his show piece and was not for sale (I did try). As a substitute I'm playing with the idea of buying an old Rolex precision, having it refurbished and adding a Mickey Mouse to the dial - other lovers of fine watches may act ill now!

Watches have never been a interest of mine...I have to draw the line somewhere. I have a Rolex..Perpetual Date..with the stainless and gold band...I bought it relativily cheap many years ago..it has been my every day watch...I have done landscaping and car maintainence with it on...

I don't wear jewelery....rings etc....so my Rolex is a status symbol for me. to show you guessed it that I am a man of wealth and taste...ehhhh....

other than that I would pick something in the $300 range and be done with it...in other words the best isn't always the best...

BTW: I don't think Rolexs are great watches by any means....they trade on the Brand name.

You have much finer tastes than I. My lifestyle tends to be fairly aggressive (working on the car, hiking, falling off logs, driving submarines, etc.) so my watch needs to be pretty durable. I'm wearing rapidly through my second Casio G-Shock -- the first lasted me 13 years, this one looks like it's dying in a short 3 years. The durability just isn't there!

So I've been looking at Citizen's Titanium Eco-Drive watches. Elegant, simple, and designed to last forever. I don't really feel like blowing $350 on a good watch though, when I could happily spend $350 on my beautiful German Mistress. :)

Ditto here...I could spend 5 figures on a watch if it was a dream of mine, but it's not. When/if my Seiko quartz dies, I'll probably replace it with a similar piece. Not that I'm opposed to jewelry. I think it's fine...for women.

Yep, I have a solar-tech (i.e. solar powered) from Citizen... titanium, white faced, date and time, grey band. Has served me without fault since 1996.

Funny... you start a thread about money is no object watchs and everyone so far has suggested resonable priced watchs.

So far after what I have looked at if I could spend anyting I think the Tag Heuer Monaco is the nicest looking watch I have seen.

The Sinn watches are very, very, nice... I like the 756.

But back to reality... I want to look at a Tag Formula 1 because they look good and I may go with that for $400 (more money that I have ever spent on myself), however I have not seen one in person and I won't buy one off the internet unless I do.

I like Rolex myself, Still have one. Used to have 4. Of the ones I've had my all time Fav is the Yachtmaster. I see another one in my near future. I have never liked the Yellow gold much though. It always looked to Bling Bling to me. I always buy white gold, SS. Plat..or something a little more low key.

A.Lange and Sohne or Jaeger Le Coultre Master Compressor for me.

Its not jewellery, its because you cant take a 911 everywhere.
