Just heard on the news Michael Schumacher is giving 10mil to aid for tsunami victims. Think any of the Nascar boys will chip in?

tabascobobcat 01-04-2005 06:15 PM

Do you think that any of the NASCAR boys have $10 Mil to give ??

I remember reading that Jeff Gordon took a ride an actually went fast enough to qualify for a F1 event, he was later asked if he'd switch and his response was that he didn't want the pay cut. Like it or not NASCAR is the most popular sport in the US right now, even more than football so I'm sure those guys have some cash.

I think that Jeff's X-wife has most of it.

If the bazillionaire actors and sports stars in the world were to each give just 1 million bucks, they could send more than all the monies collected so far. They wouldn't even know it was gone.
Gee, think they will?

(I know some have already pledged and I think that is a great thing.)

Schumacher makes somewhere over 25 million a year

Sandra Bullock gave $1M. She also gave $1M just after 9/11.

Schu is pulling down $45m with endorsements, making him the 2nd highest paid athlete, after Tiger. I think its an enormous gesture to give away a fourth of his yearly pay. Despite what some say, he really is an amazing person.

Nah, he is making nearly 40M a year JUST IN SALARY from Ferrari, which technically does make him the highest paid athlete (excluding endorsements). With endorsements, he is pulling down over 80M a year. Still, 10m is no drop in the bucket, and will certainly be put to good use.

Eric - Guess my data is a couple of years old ;) Schu will own the friggin world in a couple years when he makes it 9.

Look up all of the nascar charities there are... Victory Junction, lots of different charities for different cancers and diseases... These guys do a lot, and they give a lot for different causes.

They were reporting on the news this morning that Schu's long-time bodyguard was on vacation with his kids (not Schu's kids) in ****et and the whole family was lost in the tragedy.
